The Pitt – 8:00 a.m. (Hour Two)

If you grew up in the ’90s, you’re more than familiar with how a tween or teen girl’s hobbies and interests were crucial to their identity.

For a long time in the ’90s and early ’00s, “Horse Girls” reigned powerfully, whether you actively pursued equestrian skills on ranches and in stalls or simply admired the entire concept from afar.

For those looking for their next endearing coming-of-age series, Beyond Black Beauty is perfect for you.

Is Beyond Black Beauty Inspired By a Book?

Yes.

Beyond Black Beauty is actually inspired by the classic Anna Sewell novel Black Beauty.

As a result, the series is advertised as a reimagining of the novel.

With this incredibly diverse cast and modern storytelling, it’s a beautiful display of paying homage to a classic and bringing it into a new era.

It marks the eleventh adaptation of this classic novel into a film or television series, but people never get tired of a classic, right?

What is Beyond Black Beauty Season 1 About?

Beyond Black Beauty will follow a young aspiring Olympic equestrian named Jolie Dumont.

A beautiful and spirited teen, Jolie lives a wonderful life with her family in Belgium, and she has her life mapped out for her.

She is almost exclusively focused on striving toward her dream of competing in the Olympics as an elite equestrian.

When Jolie’s mother abruptly moves their family across the world to her family’s urban ranch in Baltimore, Maryland, everything changes for Jolie.

However, it’s an undeniable culture shock for her, among other things, seemingly dashes Jolie’s hopes and hard work toward making it to the Olympics.

As a result, Jolie struggles to adjust to her surroundings as she reconciles with the vast difference between Belgium’s elite horse world and her extended family’s deeply rich world of urban Black cowboys.

Understandably angry and lashing out, Jolie does not adapt well to the move until she comes across a spirited horse, Black Beauty, with whom she finds kinship.

With the help of Beauty, her family, and new friends around her, Jolie will not only come to grips with understanding and embracing her heritage but also forge a new path toward continuing her Olympic dreams.

Beyond Black Beauty’s Cast: Who is in It?

Kaya Coleman, the Canadian-American actress best known for Dangerous Games: The Legacy Murders, will star as Jolie Dumont.

Sagine Sémajuste, the Haitian-Canadian actress known for Sunny’s Quest and Pretty Hard Cases, will star as Jolie’s mother, Janelle Dumont.

Gina James, the Canadian actress known for her roles in Transplant and Sex/Life, will play Ronnie Parrish.

Lisa Berry of Slasher and Supernatural acclaim will play Yvonne Parrish.

Akiel Julien of Utopia Falls, The Boys, and Code 8: II will play Alvin Shipp

Gilles Marini of Days of Our Lives, Switched at Birth, and Sex and the City will star as Cedric Dumond

Justice James, Eben Yehemdi, Ashton James, Gabrielle Lazure, Maia Jae Bastidas, and Tine Roggeman star, too.

How Many Episodes are in Season 1?

The first season of the coming-of-age family drama will have a whopping 11 episodes!

It’s exciting to have so many episodes in an age when the episode count for many series, particularly on streamers, has been dwindling and often hovering between six and ten if we’re incredibly lucky.

When Will Beyond Black Beauty Season 1 Premiere?

You can watch the FULL season of Beyond Black Beauty on October 15.

So grab your cowboy hats and a warm cup of apple cider because, on a rapidly approaching crisp autumn day, you’ll be able to binge this full season happily.

Where Can You Watch Beyond Black Beauty Season 1?

You can stream the full season of Beyond Black Beauty on Prime Video and FreeVee.

Is There a Trailer for Beyond Black Beauty?

Yes, there is, and it already has us in the “feels.”

You get a general idea of how Jolie’s life completely changes on a dime, how it affects her going from the lavish world of Belgium to a metropolitan area like Baltimore, and how getting in touch with her family and heritage is rife with complications, joy, and sometimes heartache.
