NFL legend Nick Foles has finally hung up his playing boots after 11 illustrious seasons in the league. Having made his name with the Philadelphia Eagles, the seasoned quarterback also made brief appearances with the Chiefs, the Rams, and the Bears, among other teams. Nevertheless, he eventually decided to call it a day last month, leaving the game for good. But what updates did Nick Foles share about his decision to retire in his latest speech?

Here are all the details regarding the 35-year-old sportsman’s recently confirmed retirement.

Has Nick Foles confirmed his retirement from NFL?

The 2013 Pro Bowl nominee officially announced his permanent exit from football in August 2024.

Nick Foles conveyed his difficult decision to retire from the sport by sharing a heartfelt message on X. In his note, the athlete reiterated special moments from his glittering career while also expressing gratitude to his teammates, coaches, and fans. Foles also spared a moment to talk about the next chapter of his life, which he intends to dedicate to his family.

In the Eagles’ recent loss against the Falcons, the retiring Nick Foles was honored for his contributions to the team. The agile quarterback was named the team’s honorary captain for the day before giving a 45-minute farewell speech. Foles applauded his crew members and work friends and touched down upon his historic touchdown in Super Bowl LII.

The veteran famously became the first-ever quarterback to catch a touchdown in the Super Bowl in 2017. He also orchestrated the Eagles’ solitary victory in the competition’s history by guiding them to a 41-33 win over the New England Patriots.

Nick Foles concluded his retiring speech by commemorating his fans, as per 6abc Philadelphia. “Y’all are what makes this place so special,” he said. “One of my favorite moments is the NFC Championship Game, and y’all were so loud, dancing, we were dancing. I had to pause and just watch and take it in and realize how blessed I was to play for a great city, a great organization.”

After leaving the Indianapolis Colts in 2023, Foles remained unsigned for the entirety of the season. He finally confirmed his retirement from the NFL a year later, drawing the curtain on one of the most inspiring careers in the league.
