Netflix Buys Sony’s Shark Movie Originally Planned for Theatrical Release

Netflix has announced that Lukas Gage (Dead Boy Detectives), Jameela Jamil (The Good Place), Sarah Catherine Hook (First Kill), and Lucien Laviscount (Emily in Paris) will be joining the People We Meet on Vacation cast for its upcoming film adaptation of Emily Henry’s 2021 bestselling novel. At the moment, further details about their respective roles remain under wraps, including their character names.

“The film will follow the longtime best friends who took one week of every summer vacation together,” reads the synopsis. “However, things changed when they stopped speaking for two years. When Poppy reaches out and convinces Alex to take one more vacation together, she sees it as her time to fix their broken relationship. But there’s one unspoken truth they have yet to confront: Are they really just friends, or is there more to their relationship?”

Who will lead the People We Meet on Vacation cast?

People We Meet on Vacation will be led by Tom Blyth (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) as Alex Nielsen and Emily Bader (My Lady Jane) as Poppy Wright. The film will be directed by Brett Haley (Hearts Beat Loud) from a screenplay written by Yulin Kuang. It will be produced by Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, and Isaac Klausner. It is a production by Netflix and Sony Pictures.

“I’ve been kind of an anxious wreck about who would play these characters,” Henry said in a statement. “I truly could not feel more confident that my readers and then so many more people who don’t even know about the book are going to completely fall in love with Poppy and Alex.”
