In her new book, Stassi Schroeder shares fresh insight into her and Beau Clark’s “painful” falling out with Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright.
Stassi Schroeder opened up about her and Beau Clark’s falling out with former Vanderpump Rules co-stars Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright in her new book You Can’t Have It All: The Basic B*tch Guide to Taking the Pressure Off.
Two years after Brittany and Jax pulled out of Stassi Schroeder and Beau Clark‘s Italian wedding at the last minute, the Vanderpump Rules alum shares insight into the painful diss.
“[Jax and Brittany] were of course invited, because they were two of our close friends. They RSVP’d yes, but I didn’t hear much from Brittany leading up to the wedding, which was weird because usually you’re texting about being excited or asking what clothes you’re packing or something. Not only that, we started hearing from Beau’s best friend, Rob, that Jax was texting him and Tom Schwartz saying they might not go to the wedding, and listing off reasons why,” the 36-year-old wrote in an excerpt from her new book, shared on Instagram by Bye Wig Hello Drama.
“One reason was that Jax doesn’t like Europe … I’m not saying they had to fly to Italy. I get that it’s a lot to ask, but if they weren’t going to come they could have told us, and we could have invited two people that wanted to be there,” she continued. “A little communication would have been nice, is what I’m saying.
Stassi Schroeder explained that she and Beau struggled with keeping the guest list small for their Rome wedding, especially since their first wedding was held during the pandemic.
“It pained us to not be able to invite people we cared about. So this wasn’t a petty thing for us, it was deeply painful. Imagine if two of your closest friends just … didn’t want to come,” she explained.
While Stassi and Beau confronted Jax and Brittany about their plans to pull out of their wedding at the last minute, Jax insisted they were still coming up until the very last minute. Then, on the day Stassi and Beau left for Italy, Brittany sent a text message telling the couple that she and Jax would not be attending.
“It was such a slap in the face. They were supposed to be our ride-or-die friends, and this felt like they didn’t respect that friendship at all,” Stassi admitted. “Their wedding in Kentucky had to be the most important thing in our lives for an entire summer when we were filming the show. We were there for all of it.”
“As soon as I read that text, Beau and I were like, we’re done. I wasn’t going to just roll over for this one,” she continued, adding that her “main issue” is with Jax because he was the one “texting a bunch of people about it” and lying to her and Beau’s faces.
“Lala Kent couldn’t come because she was on a podcast tour, and I’m not angry with her because she told us. She didn’t pretend she was coming, talk sh*t behind our backs, and then cancel at the last minute,” the mom of two added.
Stassi said that she and Beau became even more fustrated with Jax and Brittany when they continued to discuss their strained friendship in the press.
“On [Scheana Shay]’s podcast, she and Brittany ripped into me and my wedding. They kept talking to press and telling people that Beau and I were holding a grudge because they weren’t coming to the wedding, which wasn’t true,” Stassi said. “Many people couldn’t come to our wedding, but they told us in advance and didn’t pretend they were coming until the last minute. This just pushed me and Beau further away from them.”
After being burned by Jax numerous times over the years, Stassi says his canceling her wedding at the last minute was the final straw because she couldn’t stand to see her ex hurt her current husband.
“Why would I continue a friendship when someone has repeatedly shown me his character? Nope. Not anymore,” she noted. “I want to surround myself with people I can count on.”
As for her and Brittany, Stassi Schroeder admits they “are cordial” these days before commenting on Jax and Brittany’s current divorce.
“I know that, as I write this, they have split up, so I wish them the best. That doesn’t mean what they did is right though,” she shared.
