‘Sex and the City’: Miranda and Steve’s Relationship Timeline

Rick & Morty is a show with plenty of controversy surrounding it – particularly since its co-creator Justin Roiland was exposed for some very indecent stuff, leading to him being canned and replaced by new voice actors for the main characters at the beginning of season seven.

That’s enough of a controversy to make most shows fail, yet Rick & Morty arguably got better. It remains one of the most highly-rated shows on IMDB and is seen by many as the undisputed king of adult animated comedy in the modern era. As you can imagine, this means everyone is keen to capitalise on the brilliance of the show – like it or not, this has led to a slew of merchandise and collectables for anyone to buy.

It’s also spawned a few video game adaptations inspired by the TV show. We’re no strangers to movies or TV shows adapted from games, but what about the other way around? We’ve found four Rick & Morty-themed games that might be your cup of tea if you’re fans of the series.

Rick and Morty Megaways

It’s no surprise at all to see the igaming industry take a punt on a Rick and Morty game. The style of the show combined with the funny voice lines and sound effects makes for the perfect online slot experience. Rick and Morty Megaways is available across hundreds of platforms, including the best non-GamStop gambling sites listed by NonGamStopOdds.com.

It utilises the incredible Megaways feature, which means it has over 100,000 ways to win with every spin. You’ll love the cool graphics and the theme of this slot as it transports you back to the TV series in an instant. It’s officially licensed too, so expect the classic soundtrack from the show along with a host of fun voice lines.

Rick and Morty Virtual Rick-Ality

Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-Ality is probably the most interesting game on this list. It’s a VR game you can play on all the normal virtual reality devices and puts you in the shoes of a Morty clone. It’s a surreal experience; you’re literally walking around settings from the TV show like Rick’s garage, the family home and various alien planets. All the while, you’re getting instructions from Rick and Morty as they set countless tasks to do.

This includes solving puzzles, shooting things and just generally having fun as you explore the environment. The voice acting is fantastic and it’s a genuinely immersive game for big fans of the show. You see Summer, get to fly in Rick’s spaceship and even see guest appearances from popular characters like Mr Meeseeks!

The game was met with mixed reviews when it first came out, but an updated version for PSVR got generally positive comments from game reviewers across the industry. It managed a 7.6 rating from IGN, making it a pretty capable VR game. Most people’s biggest problem was that the story was a bit too short! You get to experience the life of a Morty clone, but it’s over before you know it.

Pocket Mortys

If the previous game was arguably the most interesting on this list, Pocket Mortys is the most bizarre entry! When you read the description for this game or watch the gameplay trailer, it takes you a moment to figure out if it’s real or not.

First of all, this is a mobile game you can download on the App Store or Google Play. Secondly, it’s dubbed “A Multiversal Battle of the Grandsons”. You play as Rick, only you’ve been trapped in a dimension by another Rick where you find out that collecting Mortys and fighting them against one another is the main goal of life there. What entails is a Pokemon-style game, only instead of Pokemon, there are over 160 Mortys for you to collect.

It legitimately sounds like a joke, but the game is pretty fun! It looks like an old-style Pokemon game and the premise is almost identical. You have turn-based battles and your Morty can learn different attacks or moves depending on which variant you have. You gain XP for defeating other Mortys and can level up. There are even badges to collect – the more we type, the more fascinating this game seems. It looks pretty good too, so if you like Pokemon, maybe Pocket Mortys is the game for you.

High on Life

The final game on this list is the only one that’s not strictly an adaptation of Rick and Morty. High on Life was developed by Squanch Games, which is owned by Justin Roiland. As we said before, he created the Rick and Morty TV show but has been disgraced as of late.

Nevertheless, we’ve included this game on our list as it does take inspiration from Rick and Morty in many ways. In the game, you’re a mercenary going around hunting aliens who get high on humans – already, this sounds like it could be a Rick and Morty episode. Here’s the catch; your guns talk to you, and they sound almost identical to both Rick and Morty.

The game was met with…shall we say “mixed” reviews when it launched. IGN gave it an 8 out of 10, but many others hit it with one-star reviews. Kotaku seemed to underline the game’s biggest problem was the persistent dialogue. The guns and other NPCs never seemed to shut up. It’s probably not worth playing, but we added it in here as it’s the only other Rick and Morty-inspired game out there.

To be honest, we’re surprised there aren’t more video games based on this series! It feels like it lends itself perfectly to an action-adventure style game or even more mobile games. Maybe we’ll see more in the future – or if board games are more to your tastes, we know there are plenty of those with Rick and Morty themes attached!
