It looks like “Right Thurr” rapper Chingy will be keeping his tale right at home as he has decided to drop out of an upcoming Republican fundraiser.
As previously reported, the entertainer found himself at the center of controversy after being listed as a headlining performer for the “Red, White, and Rock” event in Nashville. He was set to perform alongside prominent MAGA supporters like Donald Trump Jr. After fans learned about his scheduled performance on September 29th, many were quick to criticize him. However, Chingy spoke out to defend himself. He said, “I’ma say this one time. MY JOB IS TO PERFORM AND I GET PAID TO PERFORM, NOT CAURR ABOUT POLITICS. NOW YALL FIND SUMIN ELSE TO DO WITH YURR TIME.”
He also added, “Music isn’t racist and that’s how I play it. All this nonsense y’all creating bothers me none. I’m a performer, whether these people are political, homosexual, or whatever—they all love music. I have classic records they all love, and I will perform them for them. So I hope that helps you innerstand that my job as an artist is to perform and make timeless music. That I did.” Well, it seems the comments got the best of him because hours later, he shared that he would no longer be attending the event. He wrote in the comment section of Baller Alert’s page,
“YOU KNO WHAT JUS CAUSE I DONT WANT TO BE IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS MESS. I HAVE DECLINED PERFORMING AND NO IM MOT A TRUMP SUPPORTER NOR SUPPORTER OF ANYONE ELSE BUT CHINGY. THURR YOU HAVE IT.”
Chingy has also scrubbed the event from his official Instagram account.
