The first episode of Marvel’s Agatha All Along featured a surprising nude scene involving Kathryn Hahn as Agatha.
The episode, titled “Seekest Thou the Road,” sees Agatha running out onto the streets of Westview naked, having broken free of the Scarlet Witch’s illusion spell. She is raging and she marches up to her neighbor John and demands to know how long she’s “been in this cesspool of a town,” all while standing behind some strategically placed shrubs.
John tells her it’s been “three years,” and during the conversation they are having, he tries to politely convince her to cover up. But, she’s not having it and walks away, baring her butt.
During an interview with Variety, Hahn talked about this scene saying that she is the one who came up with the idea and explained why, saying: “I came up with it. I thought it was good to see her as stripped down, literally, as we possibly could, which spoke into her powerlessness at the present moment.
“She really had nothing at that point, and so it became about illustrating that gap between that moment and her finding her power again.”
Schaeffer went on to talk about Hahn’s pitch to her and how she thought it was the greatest idea ever: “Kathryn was like, ‘I don’t feel like she would grab the robe. I feel like she would really not care about being naked in front of the neighbors.’
“I told her, ‘That is the greatest idea I’ve ever heard.’ Kathryn has done so much work, and she’s done a lot of nudity and other things, and so it also felt very subversive to get Kathryn Hahn’s nudity into the MCU.”
She added: “It is so true to [Agatha], and it makes me laugh out loud. And also, I mean, she looks incredible.”
They are clearly proud of this scene regardless of what some fans think about it. Hahn is the first woman to bare her butt in the MCU. The butts of Thor and Hulk had previously been featured in the MCU. Whose butt will be next!?
