We’ve been on board with Teacup since the Peacock horror series dropped its first teaser last month. And a new trailer has us even more excited for this mysterious show.

Based on a beloved novel by Robert McCammon, Teacup comes to us courtesy of Saw director James Wan.

So hopes are understandably high, and from what we’ve seen thus far, Peacock might have its first true streaming sensation on its hands.

Sure, Poker Face and Girls 5eva made a splash with critics, but neither generated the kind of word of mouth that could put Peacock in the same conversation as original content powerhouses like Netflix and Max.

But a genuinely frightening adult horror series just in time for Halloween?

This could be the show the fledgling NBC offshoot has been waiting for.

Teacup follows a disparate group of neighbors in rural Georgia who must come together and combat a mysterious threat in order to survive.

The series stars Yvonne Strahovski, Scott Speedman, Chaske Spencer, Kathy Baker, Boris McGiver, Caleb Dolden, Emilie Bierre, and Luciano Leroux.

Wan is the executive producer, and the show is written by Ian McCullough and directed by E.L. Katz.

The trailer does an impressive job of providing sufficient information to get its hooks into us while also withholding enough to keep us intrigued.

McCammon was one of the paperback horror gods of the 1980s, and he still enjoys the support of a loyal army of fans.

Only time will tell if the McCammon faithful will be satisfied by this adaptation (or if Teacup will earn the author the King– and Koontz-caliber praise that his fans believe he rightly deserves).

But it’s clear from the trailer that this show won’t be skimping on the macabre vibes that have made the author so popular for so long.

What do you think, TV fanatics? Does Teacup have the potential to become the hit Peacock has been waiting for?

Or is it just the latest addition to the already overcrowded streaming landscape?
