As mentioned, Monét raised suspicions of a split after a cryptic post on X (formerly Twitter) about being “alone.” On Aug. 20, she posted, “I am way too sexy to be alone…” and fans lost it! A little over a month later, the tweet has collected over one million views, over 200 replies, and 21,000 likes.

Victoria Monét Suggests She’s Been Single For 10 Months
At the time, Victoria Monét remained hush-hush about the post, swerving calls to confirm what she meant by “alone.” However, Monday’s statement, shared on X and Instagram Stories, highlighted how long she’s been apart from John Gaines. The short answer is 10 months.
Additionally, the statement revealed that she and John have been “avoiding a formal statement about something as natural and as personal as love.” It clarified that, as a former couple, they had preferred to keep their business under wraps. The statement also clocked social media users for magnifying the truth and running “far with untruths.”
“Ultimately, we decided to be open and address it in hopes to put a period on the question marks for the sake of our healing process. We spent the last 10 months trying to respectfully and privately navigate the fact that we are no longer in a relationship. Though we still completely adore and respect each other, we are not a couple anymore.”
It further explained that their split was about growing pains as humans versus cheating or other betrayals. “There was no infidelity, toxic behavior or drama. We both just have some fundamental growing to do that would be best done apart so we can remain the best versions of ourselves for our daughter. It simply didn’t work out, and that’s okay,” the singer wrote.
Singer Says She & John Gaines Are Focused On Daughter Hazel
For context, Monét and John Gaines shared a three-year-old daughter named Hazel Monét Gaines. They’ve reportedly been dating since 2020 and welcomed their baby girl in February 2021, per Hot 97.
In the continued breakup announcement, the former pair explained that she and John are prioritizing Hazel during this time.
“We still think the world of each other and operate with love in every interaction for our family. We have an incredible daughter to raise for life, and that is undoubtedly our number 1 priority forever. No relationship status can remove or replace that fact. We are committed to doing the inner work and trust that God will place us both where we belong in due time,” the statement said.
