A photographer hired to take student photos at Chittum Elementary in Chesapeake was escorted off school property after making “inappropriate comments” to students. The school’s administration was notified about his behavior following a viral Facebook post by a parent who alleged that the photographer made disturbing comments to her son, according to WTKR.

Principal Bridget Outlaw issued a letter to parents, stating that the incident was immediately addressed once it was reported. “School administration immediately addressed the issue, and this individual was escorted off of school property,” Outlaw wrote in her email. The photography company, LifeTouch, which was responsible for sending the photographer, is also conducting its own investigation.

The parent who made the Facebook post stated that she does not hold the school responsible for the photographer’s behavior. Lifetouch released a follow-up statement, explaining that the photographer was fired due to their behavior.

“At Lifetouch, our number one priority is the safety of every student we photograph,” said Sondra Harding, senior director of strategic communications for Shutterfly, which owns Lifetouch. “We have numerous policies and procedures in place to ensure that safety, including training and background checks on all of our photographers. We take any allegation about a photographer very seriously and have conducted a thorough investigation. The photographer in question is no longer employed with the company.
