Reports have been circulating about the death of revered BBC presenter Chris Serle, and his fans and admirers want to know whether that is true. In his extensive career, Searle presented TV shows like That’s Life!, Windmill, Points of View, The Computer Programme, and Monkey Business. He also hosted the radio program Pick of the Week between 1981 and 1987.

Here is everything you need to know about Chris Serle and the reports about his passing.

Chris Serle passes away at 81, claims report

According to reports from multiple sources, including BBC, Serle passed away on September 23, 2024. He was 81 years old at the time. Per BBC, Serle’s family confirmed his death. Since the announcement, tributes and condolences from fans and former co-workers have poured in. Dame Esther Rantzen, who also served as a presenter on That’s Life!, offered heartfelt parting words for her former colleague.

“I am so very sad to hear that Chris Serle, one of our best loved That’s Life! reporters, has died,” Rantzen said. He was as nice off camera as he was in the studio on camera – funny, clever, charming, a very versatile presenter. When I first met him, he was a producer, but it was clear that he had all the attributes of the best reporters. Viewers and listeners of That’s Life! and the many other radio and television programs he presented will be equally sad,” she added.

Rantzen concluded her message by sending “deepest sympathy” to Serle’s loved ones.

Serle was born on July 13, 1943, in Bristol, England, and attended Clifton College and Trinity College, Dublin. He presented That’s Life! between 1979 and 1994. He also acted in shows like Broad and Narrow, Dave Allen at Large, and Roland Rat: The Series.

Serle married twice and had five children. Ali, his wife, survives him, as well as the three children they have together and the two kids from his first marriage.
