I was lucky to catch this on my Qatar flight to Tokyo recently. It came out in Japan last year, but it seems completely lost in the west. I really hope it will get a release soon because it is the first animation since "a silent voice" that moved me. Ugly sobs openly on the flight kind of moving. Based on the personal stories of tetsuko kuroyanagi, a truly high quality animation which tells an intimate, beautiful and moving story of an innocent generation observing a brutal change in their nation's development.
