Full Trailer For Netflix Documentary THE MENENDEZ BROTHERS in Which the Brothers Tell Their True Story — GeekTyrant

Netflix has released a trailer for their documentary feature The Menendez Brothers. This is not to be confused with the Ryan Murphy-created season of his anthology series Monster, which debuted last week on the same streamer, with actors telling the story.

This is a documentary which features the lawyers involved in the case on both sides, family members, journalists, as well as Lyle and Erik themselves.

The doc is directed by Alejandro Hartmann (Carmel: Who Killed Maria Marta?, The Photographer: Murder in Pinamar), and is produced by Ross M. Dinerstein and Rebecca Evans, with Ross Girard and Mark McCune serving as executive producers.

The synopsis reads: “In 1996, Lyle and Erik Menendez were convicted for the murders of their parents in what became one of the most famous criminal cases of the late 20th century.

“For the first time in 30 years, and in their own words, both brothers revisit the trial that shocked the nation. Through extensive audio interviews with Lyle and Erik, lawyers involved in the trial, journalists who covered it, jurors, family, and other informed observers.

“Acclaimed Argentinian director Alejandro Hartmann offers new insight and a fresh perspective on a case that people only think they know.”

This actually looks really fascinating. I can appreciate the nuance of true crime now, but growing up in southern California at the time of these murders and the trial, I was just mad that the non-stop coverage my parents were consuming was interrupting my after-school TV time, which probably consisted of Saved By the Bell and Blossom re-runs.
