Jeff Bridges wasn’t the biggest fan of his appearance in 2010’s Tron: Legacy.

The Oscar-winning actor recently chatted with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, where the host asked him what he thought about his image being digitally scanned for the Joseph Kosinski-directed movie.

“It’s the new thing… I got scanned and in the computer for when we did Tron 2 — What was it called? — Legacy,” Bridges said. “I wasn’t particularly fond of that recreation of myself. I thought I looked more like Bill Maher than myself.”

The actor reprised his role as video game designer Kevin Flynn for Tron: Legacy, nearly three decades after the 1982 sci-fi classic Tron. But the sequel, starring Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde, also featured a de-aged version of himself as the character Clu (Codified Likeness Utility).

Bridges is also set to return for the upcoming Tron: Ares, which stars Jared Leto, Evan Peters and Greta Lee, but he told Horowitz that he will only make a brief appearance. The Joachim Rønning-directed film follows a highly sophisticated program, Ares (Leto), who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission.

The Old Man star also looked back at the original Tron, which he described as “bizarre,” adding, “Things that are that off-the-wall, that haven’t been done, are kind of safer in a way. Because there’s nothing to compare it to. It’s just there.”

Last month, Bridges teased Tron: Ares, which is set to hit theaters on Oct. 10, 2025, while onstage at D23. “Technology and AI is omnipresent in our lives,” Bridges said of what fans can expect. “What a perfect time to revisit this world. Or, have this world visit us, because that’s what happens in this movie.”
