It’s Vicki Gunvalson‘s world and we just live in it. The OG of the OC confesses that she wasn’t down to play production’s games during season 18 of RHOC.
According to the 62-year-old, Real Housewives of Orange County producers wanted her to whoop it up several times throughout season 18 despite the fact that she wasn’t holding an orange and wasn’t an official friend. In fact, Vicki Gunvalson’s season 18 role consisted only of several guest appearances, yet she claims producers wanted to milk her for more to create drama and good reality TV.
During season 18, Vicki mainly appeared as a backup for BFF Shannon Beador. She popped up at Gina Kirchheiter’s dinner party, telling the OC Housewives to leave Shannon alone. Vicki and Shannon also had an on-screen conversation about Tamra Judge leaving their Tres Amigas tour.
Despite Vicki’s return to our TV screens, the OG of the OC admits that producers wanted her to give them more, but she was unwilling to do so.
There are more Vicki scenes to come during season 18, including Jennifer Pedranti and Ryan Boyajian’s engagement party. However, fans shouldn’t expect to see her stirring the pot in any of them.
According to Vicki, she put her foot down and told producers she was “not going to do it” and would rather “go home” when asked to confront members of the RHOC cast.
Vicki explains that production pulled her aside and asked her to stay longer at Jenn and Ryan’s engagement party but she wanted to leave because “it was freezing.”
“‘And this is about Jen and Ryan’s engagement.’ They’re like, ‘Well, it is. But it’s really about the season and what’s happened everywhere. So this is giving everybody a platform to talk about it.’ I said, ‘No, this is about Jen and Ryan,” Vicki Gunvalson explained on her podcast, My Friend, My Soulmate, My Podcast.
She also claims that production wanted her to confront Tamra Judge, Katie Ginella, and Heather Dubrow.
Vicki said she told production, “‘Not going to do it. This is Jen and Ryan’s night.’ And he then said, ‘What about you confront Katie about talking about Heather?’ I said, ‘Not going to do it. Not my business.’ And he goes, ‘Damn. You’re not going to do anything?’ I said, ‘What I’m going to do is go home.’”
The OG of the OC also admitted that she had zero interest in filming Traitors scenes on RHOC with her arch nemesis, Teddi Mellencamp.
“This stuff of mimicking a game show and bringing Teddi on, you can see right through it. This is not the reality show. This is not what I created as a reality show. The reality show that I created. Call it good or bad or ugly,” she said.
Vicki Gunvalson added that she “would rather be on a little bit than not at all” when it comes to her time on RHOC.
She added, “I do have a voice. And I do have opinions. Unfortunately, they get muffled because of the chaos that’s happening.”
The Real Housewives of Orange County airs on Bravo Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET.
