This week, DaniLeigh shared a somber life update with her fans. Her father, Vladimir Curiel, passed away while battling cancer. The singer revealed the tragic news in a lengthy social media post and followed up by flooding her channel with memories of the man she called her biggest supporter.
DaniLeigh Reveals Her Dad’s Death
Taking to Instagram Stories on Oct. 1, the singer shared that Vladimir died that same morning as she, her mother, and siblings prayed over him. The time was 4:14 a.m., per Dani’s post. She began the announcement by thanking God for their time with Curiel.
Dani also credited her parents with sacrificing their lives to give their children better ones. Ultimately, she described her father’s transition as another sacrifice so that his kids could strengthen their relationship with God.
“I’ve never felt closer! The way he passed with his kids and wife praying over him and telling our goodbyes as he took his last breath just shows me how God opened his arms wide open to welcome him into heaven. Thank you Lord Jesus for stopping his suffering. I know he fought so hard to stay with us but it was time. Thank you Lord for giving me a beautiful angel up there to watch me.”
The 29-year-old didn’t detail what kind of cancer her dad passed from or when he received the diagnosis. However, she opened up about his character and the impression he left on others.
“Anyone who ever met my dad LOVED him. He had something so special about him!! You could meet him for only one day and fall in love with how kind he was, how soft and pure he was. I’ve always admired how he would see the good in everybody,” Danileigh wrote.
Singer Shares Photo Memories Featuring Her Father & Daughter
DaniLeigh’s father passed away about a week after she asked her supporters via Instagram Stories to pray for his life. At the time, she didn’t offer any additional details about his health.
In her announcement about his death, DaniLeigh also highlighted the pain her daddy’s death has caused her. She said it’s a feeling she’s “never felt before.”
“These past few years have been so dark for me but I know now I have your light shining over me and I promise I’m not gonna do anything to dim it. I’m going to miss you so much, it’s crazy V called you yesterday and kept saying she loved you. She’ll remember you forever Papa, I know it!”
For context, V is a nickname for DaniLeigh’s daughter Velour, whom she shares with rapper Dababy. It’s unclear whether her ex has reached out amid the news of her father’s passing. Less than two months ago, news broke that her brother, Brandon Bills, was still pursuing a lawsuit against DaBaby for their infamous bowling alley brawl in Feb. 2022.
