Tia Mowry is opening up and getting candid about why she’s decided to put “a pause on dating.”

Tia Mowry Spills The Tea On Her Decision To “Pause” Dating
On Thursday, October 3, US Weekly published an exclusive interview with the actor and mother of two. Mowry, who is starring in her own docuseries ‘Tia Mowry: My Next Act,’ got candid with the outlet about her journey back into the dating world. To note, Mowry and her ex-husband, Cory Hadrict, finalized their divorce in April 2023, after 14 years of marriage.
“If you’re able to look at it as just having fun, then it’s fun,” she said. “You get to explore and experience someone new. It’s [also] about self-discovery. You start to have an understanding of what it is that you want.”
Despite this, Mowry revealed that since wrapping filming for her show, she’s decided to step away from the dating scene.
“I put a little bit of a pause on dating at the moment because you don’t really know why someone is dating you. When it becomes very clear on why someone is dating you through their behaviors, it’s disappointing,” she said. “I’ve realized that some people are attracted because there was some sort of infatuation growing up — you know, ‘Oh, this is the girl from ‘Sister, Sister.’ It’s like, ‘Nah. I want you to know me and love me when the makeup comes off.’”
The ‘Sister, Sister’ Star Shares Her Non-Negotiables
Nonetheless, Mowry explained that she’s remaining optimistic about eventually finding her suitor. Additionally, the 46-year-old explained that she’s learned what her non-negotiables in seeking her next partner.
“There has to be awareness of their traumas [and] triggers. They have to have emotional intelligence, kindness, accountability, and love for oneself,” she said. “I’m not looking for someone perfect at all, but I do want my partner to be in therapy, and I do want my partner to be working on growth.”
Ultimately, Mowry explained that since she’s “dedicated to becoming the person” she wants to be, she wants her partner “to be doing the work as well.”

Before concluding the interview, Mowry credited her family and friends for their “incredible” support amid her new journey. Additionally, the actor explained that she believes life is “all about change.”
“Life is all about impermanence [and] change is something that will always win. That’s the biggest thing I’ve learned: Even when change does happen, it doesn’t necessarily mean that something is wrong with you or that something is wrong — it is a part of life, and we are to just go with the flow,” she said.
Mowry shared similar sentiments after her recent comments about her relationship with her sister, Tamera Mowry-Housley, went viral. As The Shade Room previously reported, in September, a trailer for Mowry’s series showed her saying that she wished she and Tamera “were still close.”
Mowry’s statements on her relationship with her sister shocked social media and led many to believe they grew distant in their relationship. Then, on September 24, US Weekly published an interview with Mowry in which she explained that the distance she appeared to refer to between her and Tamera was physical, per The Shade Room.
“I love my sister very much. She loves me very much. We have a closeness and a beautiful connection. But that’s what that was all about. It’s just how life unfolds, and it happens with many families,” Mowry explained, reflecting on life’s apparent changes and “transitions.”
Most recently, Mowry appeared on ‘TODAY’ and doubled down on her clarification.
