It’s about to be two months since Joie Chavis gave birth to her third child, and there’s been a lot of online discourse about her decision to have three children with three different men.
Chavis’ eldest child is her daughter Shai Moss, 13, whom she shares with rapper-actor Bow Wow aka Shad Moss. The dancer then had a son with rapper Future and named him Hendrix Wilburn. He’ll be turning 6 this December. This past August, the 36-year-old gave birth to her daughter Harlo Rose whom she had with Trevon Diggs – an NFL player who is about 10 years her junior.

As of late, there have been several conversations online amongst celebrities and fans about men creating “broken homes” by having children with women and never marrying them or “baby mamaing” a woman. Some people even questioned whether women should be held responsible as participants in creating broken homes by continuing to have children with multiple men. This is a subject Chavis addressed on her Instagram after a fan asked her, “How do you [rise] above the hate? I be ready to fight these people talking crazy about you.”
After discussing the mean comments that she gets, she cleared the air about her pregnancies.
“You guys act like I just go out searching for – I don’t go looking for nobody, okay,” she said. “Let’s just get that straight. I don’t go out looking, searching for nothing. I don’t have no intention of ‘Ooo Imma go do this’ no. You guys act like I just meet these people and just get pregnant ‘Oh Imma have a baby’ like no.’”
“It’s like years of building with somebody and it doesn’t work out. Ok. And I’m left with a child. Ok.” The Joie In Life founder, who has been dating Diggs since 2022, said, “But these aren’t strangers. It just didn’t work out, and that’s okay life goes on. So let’s move on.”
Chavis made it clear that she sees the comments including the ones where followers question what example she is setting for her eldest daughter by having children by multiple men. After encouraging fans to worry about their own kids, she said, “I teach my daughter very well. She has seen me in relationships. She’s seen it not work out. Yes, she’s seen the kid. She don’t even want no kids from what I understand.”
Despite recently having her second baby girl, Chavis is once again single. In July, she confirmed her split from Diggs after a fan asked for the status of their relationship.
As for the fathers of her children. The Dallas Cowboy, Diggs, is the father of two sons from two previous relationships. Lottery Ticket actor, Bow Wow, has a son younger than Shai whom he shares with a woman named Olivia Sky. Last but not least, Future has nine children with nine different women – one of them being Ciara.
