Doctors have issued a warning about the dangers of using tapeworm egg pills, which are sold on the dark web as a treatment for weight loss. The pills pose a significant health risk and can lead to severe illness or death.

Tapeworms thrive in the human gut by feeding on partially digested food, which can result in weight loss. According to the New York Post, Dr. Bernand Hsu, an oncologist, reported on his YouTube channel “Chubbyem” about a case of a 21-year-old woman who took tapeworm egg pills as a weight loss method. Identified as “TE,” she experienced weight loss but also dealt with symptoms such as stomach cramps and bloating. Despite these symptoms, she reportedly saw tapeworms in the toilet after using the bathroom and continued to ignore them.
She began to notice unusual lumps under her chin, as well as experiencing migraines and episodes of memory loss. After several hospital visits, doctors found lesions in her brain, tongue, and other organs. She admitted to ingesting tapeworm eggs as a weight loss method and was diagnosed with cysticercosis, a condition in which parasite eggs spread to various tissues in the body.

After receiving medical treatment, she could expel the tapeworms and recover. Dr Hsu wanted viewers to avoid dangerous weight loss methods, stressing that proper diet and exercise are safe alternatives to parasitic infections.
