Glen Powell looks to have found his adversary in the new reimagining of The Running Man at Paramount Pictures as Josh Brolin is in final negotiations to land the villain role in the pic. The pic is based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King that the author first published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman with Edgar Wright directing and co-writing the script with Michael Bacall. Katy O’Brian and Daniel Ezra are also on board.
Wright will also produce with his producing partner Nira Park and Simon Kinberg. Wright co-wrote script with Michael Bacall. The film will bow on Nov. 21, 2025.
Based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King that the author first published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, Running Man was made famous by the 1987 movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. King’s futuristic novel is a chase thriller set in a dystopian America in the year 2025. The story centers on Ben Richards, a desperate man who participates in violent reality show called The Running Man in order to win enough money to revive his gravely ill daughter. The show follows Richards being chased by numerous hunters sent to kill him. George Linder to exec produce.
While it is unknown details behind the role, sources say he will play the antagonist who is behind the violent reality show.
Brolin will next release his memoir, From Under the Truck, on November 19. On the film side he will star in the third installment of the Knives Out series, Wake Up Dead Man.
