Mark Sendroff, Hines’ attorney confirmed the Broadway performer’s demise in a statement to People. Hines sowed the seeds for her comedy and entertainment career at the age of 12 via a nightclub act. She eventually became part of the famed duo, Ford and Hines, alongside late comedian and actor Phil Ford.
The two met in 1952, married in 1954, and divorced in 1972. Ford passed away 19 years ago in 2005. The couple never had any children. Hines first got attention within the US in 1958. This was when she appeared on The Tonight Show and sang Meredith Wilson’s The Music Man track “Till There Was You.”
Phil Ford and Mimi Hines eventually built their careers via talk programs like The Ed Sullivan Show and Pat Boone in Hollywood. Her talents were also specifically demanded for game shows like Password, I’ve Got a Secret, and Snap Judgement.
