Mimi Hines‘ death has sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry. The iconic Broadway performer and singer, who took over for Barbra Streisand in Funny Girl, recently passed away. Accordingly, fans are curious about the details of her demise.

Here is everything that has been uncovered on Mimi Hines’ death.

Mimi Hines passes away at 91, claims report

Mimi Hines passed away on Monday, October 21, at the age of 91. She died at her home in Las Vegas due to natural causes.

Mark Sendroff, Hines’ attorney confirmed the Broadway performer’s demise in a statement to People. Hines sowed the seeds for her comedy and entertainment career at the age of 12 via a nightclub act. She eventually became part of the famed duo, Ford and Hines, alongside late comedian and actor Phil Ford.

The two met in 1952, married in 1954, and divorced in 1972. Ford passed away 19 years ago in 2005. The couple never had any children. Hines first got attention within the US in 1958. This was when she appeared on The Tonight Show and sang Meredith Wilson’s The Music Man track “Till There Was You.”

Phil Ford and Mimi Hines eventually built their careers via talk programs like The Ed Sullivan Show and Pat Boone in Hollywood. Her talents were also specifically demanded for game shows like Password, I’ve Got a Secret, and Snap Judgement. Around this time, Hines and Ford shot a sitcom pilot called Mimi, which unfortunately did not take off.

Hines bagged her most famous gig as Barbra Streisand’s replacement as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl. She was a part of the Broadway production between 1965 and 1967 and starred opposite Ford’s Eddie Ryan. Hines also led national tours in productions like Prisoner of Second Avenue and Hello Dolly! In 1966, she produced the music albums Mimi Hines Sings and Mimi Hines is Happening.

Mimi Hines and Phil Ford were recently awarded a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Fame. A planned ceremony celebrating her life and work is scheduled to take place, as confirmed by Sendroff.
