Insider Reveals Real Reason ‘RHOM’ Was Put on Pause Amid Todd Nepola’s Lawsuit & ‘Cast Tensions’

It’s official! One of the things I’ve been hoping for will happen for Blue Bloods‘ Jamie and Eddie before the series wraps up.

It’s still heartbreaking that we only have a few episodes left with these two and with the rest of the Reagan family, but at least Blue Bloods will get the strong send-off it deserves.

Plus, there still could be a spinoff even if that’s all talk right now (and not the same as more Blue Bloods!)

Jamie And Eddie’s Final Storyline Is Everything I Dreamed Of

It’s been several years since Eddie and Jamie got married, and they’ve spent less time together ever since.

Yet my perfect Blue Bloods ending was always that they would have a baby. It felt like a pipe dream, but I couldn’t think of a better way to end the series.

The way I see it, Blue Bloods’ ending should be about the end of this chapter of the Reagan family’s saga.

The final message should be that things have changed, but the family goes on, and I’m holding out hope that the final scene before the credits roll for the last time is a huge Reagan family dinner that ends with a toast to the Reagan family.

I don’t know if that’ll happen, but I do know one thing: Jamie and Eddie started talking about becoming parents on Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 11. SQUEE!!!

Why Blue Bloods’ Jamie and Eddie Having A Baby Is The Perfect Ending For Blue Bloods

Jamie and Eddie having a baby starts a new chapter in their life, which is exactly what I want in the series finale.

Their baby would be the last of the next generation, not the first since Erin and Danny both have young adult children.

Still, the Jamko child would be much younger than their cousins, so it would almost be like starting a new generation.

Either way, it would be an exciting new chapter for Jamie and Eddie, and one that is super symbolic for those of us watching at home and hating that the series is ending.

A new baby would mean new life, which is the best way to end Blue Bloods. Even though I’ll be sad that the series is over, it’ll be comforting to know one of my favorite TV couples is raising their child off-screen.

It would be twice as poignant if they named their child after Henry.

I’m still afraid that the series will end with Henry dying or learning that he has a terminal illness. That would be depressing and awful and I hope they don’t do that, but I can see the logic to it.

Henry has sat at the head of the family dinner table for 14 years, so his death would signal the end of an era more than anything else.

If the show goes in this direction, it would be heartbreaking. However, if Eddie and Jamie decide to name their baby after him, that would help ease the pain.

Doing so would not only honor Henry’s memory but would reinforce the idea that the Reagan family will go on forever.

Henry would be gone, but a new Henry (or Henrietta, if it’s a girl) would have just been born and will honor his life while making their own.

What could be a more beautiful way to end the series than that?

Of course, Jamie and Eddie could still name their baby after Henry even if he survives to the final episode.

The family is Catholic, not Jewish, so there’s no prohibition on naming children after living relatives.

That would be equally poignant. Fans aren’t stupid; we know that Henry is old and that even if he’s alive and well in the final episode, eventually, that’s going to change.

The story would still be the same: life goes on, the Reagan family goes on, and the baby is named after Henry. The only difference is the audience would be spared the pain of witnessing Henry’s death.

A New Baby Would Mean Changes Ahead For Jamie And Eddie

The reason that Jamie and Eddie rarely spend time together nowadays is that Jamie has a demanding new job.

He works in the Intelligence Unit (yes, the same one that Law & Order: SVU‘s Amanda Rollins does, but they’re not set in the same universe, so no crossover potential, sadly.)

His job consists mostly of undercover work, which is stressful for Eddie because she doesn’t know what’s going on with him or if he’s safe while he’s away.

How is he going to do that once he’s the father of a new baby?

If the final episodes of Blue Bloods include preparing for a new baby, Eddie and Jamie need to have this conversation.

Jamie should also get some advice from Danny, though I REALLY wish Linda was still alive.

She was the one who had to put up with being married to a cop, often sacrificing her peace of mind to support him in his chosen career.

She could help convince Jamie to find some way to be a cop that also allows him to be there for his family as much as they need him to be.

Resolving this conflict could lead to Jamie preparing himself to become the next Commissioner when Frank eventually retires.

It also opens the door for a spinoff about Jamie and Eddie that blends family and cop drama the same way Blue Bloods did.

It seems clear that Jamie and Eddie having a baby is the perfect ending for Blue Bloods, but how about you?

Is this your dream ending? What else would you like to see happen?

Hit the comments with your thoughts.

The final season of Blue Bloods airs on CBS on Fridays at 10/9c and on Paramount+ on Saturdays.
