Emily Simpson revealed what it would take for her to “walk away” from Real Housewives of Orange County, and said certain stars believe they can “do better” than their husbands. She also shared why there are so many “divorces” on reality TV.

According to many fans, two of the most memorable divorces on RHOC involved Tamra Judge and Vicki Gunvalson, who both seemingly had good marriages during their first seasons on the show. Tamra divorced Simon Barney in 2011, about 13 years after they tied the knot. Vicki divorced Donn Gunvalson in 2014 after 20 years of marriage. Vicki later revealed that she regretted the divorce.

On the “Pain to Power” podcast, Emily shared what it would take for her to leave the show.

“You know, the minute that it affected our marriage or affected my children, I would walk away,” said Emily. “I just always thought Shane’s pretty great and the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, and that we’re better together.”

“Other women are like, ‘Oh, you know like men are attracted to me. I could do better than my husband. You know, I’m a star. I’m on TV,’” Emily added. “And I think women get a big head and think they can do better.”

Though Emily said she isn’t referring to “anyone in particular,” she admitted that there are “a lot of divorces” on reality TV, and ego is perhaps one of the reasons.

Emily said her marriage and kids come “first,” and the show comes after.

In a 2015 interview for Watch What Happens Live, Vicki addressed her past divorce with Donn.

“I think Donn was an amazing man, so I’m not going to say he wasn’t good for me. I think that if I had to do it all over again, I would not have divorced Donn. I know that for a fact,” she explained, via Bravo TV. “We both went sideways for multiple reasons, but hindsight, if we could do things differently, he was a great man, great husband.”

She was then asked about potentially reconciling with Donn.

“For me on my end, I would because I want my family back, but I don’t think for Donn,” she shared. “I think he’s really hurt.”

New episodes of The Real Housewives of Orange County air Thursday nights on Bravo.
