Nearly a year after the tragic passing of beloved actor Matthew Perry, his former Los Angeles home has found a new owner.

A prominent movie producer has purchased the residence, which served as Perry’s home for several years and was the place where he spent his final moments. The home, a stunning single-story property that embodies California’s laid-back luxury, boasts expansive views, high-end finishes, and an open floor plan.

Matthew Perry had invested in several renovations over the years, adding his own touches to the space.

The property, located in the upscale Pacific Palisades neighborhood, was sold for $8.5 million, attracting interest not only for its Hollywood ties but also for its luxurious design and prime location.

Known for its serene ambiance and classic elegance, the property became a deeply personal space for Perry, a place he often described as a “sanctuary” away from the spotlight.

According to the New York Times, Anita Verma-Lallian, a Scottsdale, Arizona-based real estate developer and film producer, is the new owner of the single-story, four-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath home.

The sale, conducted off-market, was made as an investment purchase, with Verma-Lallian acquiring the property for $8.55 million through a trust. She was represented by Brooke Elliott Laurinkus of Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California.

Matthew Perry Found Unresponsive In His Hot Tub

In October 2023, Perry was discovered unresponsive in his backyard hot tub. Although his death at age 54 was initially ruled a drowning, an autopsy later revealed ketamine levels in his blood consistent with those typically used during general anesthesia.

The actor endured a lengthy and highly publicized battle with addiction, particularly with alcohol and prescription drugs. His struggles began in his early 20s, at the height of “Friends” success, which brought with it immense pressure.

While he captivated audiences as the witty and lovable Chandler Bing, behind the scenes, Perry was facing profound personal challenges that remained largely hidden from his fans, which he opened up about in his memoir, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.”

The cause of Perry’s death was officially determined as “acute effects of ketamine.” Toxicology reports showed ketamine levels of 3540 ng/ml in his system, a concentration within the range commonly used in surgical anesthesia, which typically spans from 1000 to 6000 ng/ml.

After an extensive investigation, five individuals have now been charged in connection with Perry’s death.

The list of those charged includes Dr. Mark Chavez, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, and Erik Fleming, who admitted to distributing the ketamine that contributed to Perry’s passing. Also facing charges are Jasveen Sangha, dubbed “the Ketamine Queen,” and Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry’s live-in personal assistant.

Further investigations into the actor’s death have uncovered that, alongside his ketamine addiction, he had consumed other drugs, which collectively contributed to his passing.

The two doctors — Dr. Salvador Plasencia and Dr. Mark Chavez — charged with supplying drugs to the late actor, which ultimately contributed to his passing, have had their licenses to prescribe any medications revoked.

According to an earlier report from The Blast, Dr. Chavez agreed to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine. Authorities noted that the supply chain moved from Chavez to Plasencia and then to Perry, potentially reaching others as well.

Chavez revealed that he had acquired a significant supply of ketamine from his former ketamine clinic, as well as from a wholesale distributor, using a fake identity. Additionally, he admitted to obtaining more ketamine by issuing a false prescription under a former patient’s name without their consent.

The late actor reportedly instructed his assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, to “shoot him up with a big one” shortly before his passing.

Iwamasa administered ketamine to Perry three times prior to the final dose requested. Having reached a plea deal concerning his involvement in Perry’s death, Iwamasa has admitted to injecting the actor nearly 30 times in the days leading up to the incident, despite Dr. Plasencia’s hesitation to approve a high dosage.

Iwamasa, who had worked with Perry since 1994 and lived with him in his Los Angeles home, could now face up to 25 years in prison. His plea deal includes cooperating fully with prosecutors in the ongoing investigation.
