Emily Simpson hosted an “Ask Me Anything” session with her fans and followers on Instagram on Sunday, during which she answered questions about her relationship with her mom Carolyn and The Real Housewives of Orange County.
As her husband Shane Simpson took one question for himself, revealing if the show was scripted as he signaled “crazy” cast members, Emily, 48, offered an update on her relationship with her mother and shared her thoughts on the “genuine” friendships among the women.
“Has your relationship with your mum improved?” a fan asked on October 27.
During an early episode of season 18, Emily spoke of her mother’s depression and the impact it had on her childhood, also sharing that her mom hadn’t seen her kids in years. And, unfortunately, nothing has changed between them.
“Not at all. We barely speak,” Emily revealed.
When another fan asked if any of the show was “scripted,” adding that they “hope not,” Shane appeared on camera.
“Okay, Emily went on a walk, gave me her phone, and I see these questions here and this is one I’m gonna answer,” he began.
“It’s not scripted. Those ladies are just all crazy. Nothing needs to be scripted, Emily included. And one’s a wackadoodle,” he shared, not naming which cast member he was referring to.
A third person wanted to know more about the friendships seen on RHOC, asking, “Do all members hang out outside of filming? Or is it only for the show?”
“There are genuine friendships in this group … even outside of filming and I think that’s why season 18 is so successful,” Emily replied.
The Real Housewives of Orange County season 18 airs Thursdays at 9/8 on Bravo.
