Fans have long wondered why Sela Ward left the FBI, especially after her strong portrayal of Dana Mosier in the series. Introduced in 2018, Mosier was the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the New York Field Office. She was renowned for exhibiting her big boss attitude and authority and appeared in almost every episode except one. So, why did Sela Ward leave FBI, and is there a chance she might make a return?

Here are all the details.

When did Sela Ward’s Dana Mosier leave the FBI?

Ward’s Dana Mosier departed from FBI Season 1 after the finale.

The departure storyline for Dana Mosier brewed when she let Maggie Bell engage in a case involving a personal connection. Dana’s struggle to remain objective in this decision brought her authority to question, leading to her harsh decision. As she realizes it was not a good judgment in Maggie’s case, she decides to depart. She announces her resignation to the team, revealing that she can no longer perform her part impartially. After leaving the FBI, she decides to pursue other things.

Will Sela Ward’s Dana Mosier return on FBI?

Currently, there are no reports that indicate that Ward’s Dana Mosier will return to the FBI series.

The departure of Ward, who was a pivotal character in the CBS series came as a shock to many. However, her exit was backed by a valid reason, which Ward revealed publicly on Instagram. In a post, she revealed that her contract’s tenure was only for one season and not more than that. Therefore, her story was put to an end in the finale.

Expressing her enthusiasm for new projects, she said, “I am going to be taking some time to explore a few exciting new projects. I am especially looking forward to spending time painting!”

Further, she also mentioned keeping her audience posted on where she is heading next and appreciated the fans for their support. Given, that there were no cameos or brief utterances of her character on the show, the chances of her returning appear slim.
