Dorit Kemsley announced on Tuesday that she’s in perimenopause with an Instagram video that sparked accusations of FaceTune and “too much” filter.
As she opened up about her health journey in an ad for The Better Menopause, the 48-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, who announced her separation from Paul “PK” Kemsley, 57, earlier this year, faced questions about her lips as fans took note of how different she looked in the clip.
“Women’s health, especially in midlife deserves more attention. My perimenopausal journey began earlier than expected because of my PTSD and I had no idea what was happening to my body. I was shocked to discover how little I knew about perimenopause and menopause and what happens when our hormones are off balance,” Dorit wrote in her October 29 post, which also included a video.
As fans will recall, Dorit endured a terrifying home robbery in October 2021, during which she begged for her life, and the lives of her two children, son Jagger, 10, and daughter Phoenix, 8, as thieves stole an estimated $2.5 million worth of items from her $7.9 million home in Encino, California.
Three years later, as she continued to cope with symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Dorit met with Debbie Wosskow of The Better Menopause.
“No woman should feel alone in their journey. This is about a movement where we unite, heal, and grow together,” she explained, sharing that she joined the company as a shareholder and VP of their U.S. advisory board. “I look forward to working closely with them and aid in their mission to help other women find comfort, support and strength in this phase of their lives.”
Dorit also noted that she’d been taking the company’s all-natural, science-backed supplements to “get back to feeling like [herself] again,” and she offered a discount on The Better Menopause website.
“There is so much more to come and I’m thrilled to be a part of it!” she added.
While Dorit was met with compassion from many, she was also accused of looking “different.”
“Not feeling like myself … ?! You don’t look like yourself either,” one person stated.
“Lips???? What the???????” another asked.
Someone else wondered, “How much FaceTune do you want?”
“Is this AI?” questioned a fourth.
As the comments continued, another IG user said that Dorit looked better before.
“What happened to your looks[?] I was like who is this? The [Dorit Kemsley] before was better than this one! Omg!” they wrote.
“That filter is too much,” someone else agreed. “Women [prefer] to see women who ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE THEMSELVES … rather than grainy [weird] lighting and [FaceTune] that autocorrects so much you hardly have features.”
