Jeffery Williams Sr., the father of Atlanta rapper Young Thug, is slams the “poisonous” Fulton County DA’s office and reacts to his son copping a plea deal in his RICO case and getting hit with a 10-year ban from Metro Atlanta.

As we previously shared earlier today (October 31), Young Thug, born Jeffery Lamar Williams, pleaded no contest to two counts: conspiracy to violate Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act and participation in criminal street gang activity. He also pleaded guilty to six other counts related to drug possession and firearm violations. Young Thug took “full responsibility” for his crimes and apologized to his family and friends.
Speaking to Fulton County Superior Court Judge Paige Reese Whitaker, Thug said, “I am a good guy, and I really got a good heart. I find myself in a lot of stuff because I was just nice or cool, you know, and I understand that you can’t be that way when you reach a certain height because it could end bad. I hope you allow me to go home and do the right thing.”
Thug was facing 120 years in prison and during sentencing, prosecutors sought 45 years, with 25 served in custody and 20 years on probation. However, Judge Whitaker rejected that suggestion and commuted the sentence to time served and 15 years of probation — allowing Young Thug to be released from custody as of Thursday evening.

Additionally, Judge Whitaker’s leniency came with many conditions, including Young Thug being banned from Metro Atlanta, his hometown, for the next 10 years. The rare exceptions include medical emergencies of family members, funerals, and any scheduled presentations or concerts that warn of the dangers of gang participation — which he has been ordered to do at least four times a year.
Young Thug is not only banned from Metro Atlanta but is also prohibited from promoting gangs or gang culture in any way, shape, or form, and he has instead been ordered to use his high profile to campaign against gangs. Another notable condition put forth against Thug orders him to cease all contact with gang members and YSL affiliates.
However, he will still be able to speak with and work with his brother, Quantavious Grier, and fellow YSL rapper Gunna, Sergio Giovanni Kitchens. Grier is currently serving a nine-year prison sentence after violating his probation in 2023.

While speaking with the media on Thursday evening (October 31), Young Thug’s father Jeffery Williams, Sr. reacted to his son copping a plea. He said, “I was kind of startled behind it because I was in agreement with Brian [Steele] and Keith [Evans]. You know, let’s keep fighting. Let’s [let] them continue to embarrass themselves. But at the same token, my son… I’ve never tried to interfere with his decisions. I just try to give him the knowledge of making the best decision that he sees fit for him. And I support it.”
When asked how he feels knowing that his son is coming home, Jeffery Sr. said, “I feel great that he’s going home. But at the same token, I still wanted him to fight. But that’s his decision. On the other hand, I raised him to be the man that he is. I’ve always been in his life, from a pup to now, and I’mma continue to be in his life. As an adult, he has to make his own decisions.”

When asked if he lives in Metro Atlanta, Young Thug’s father confirmed, “Yes, I do.” He was then asked how he feels about his son being banned from Metro Atlanta for the next 10 years as a part of his plea deal. Jeffery Sr. said, “I’m totally against that because this is where he’s from. To have this attorney take that away from him, and [they aren’t] a resident from here — she’s from another state — and to see her take a man away from where he’s from to have to go live somewhere else, that’s offensive to me. I’m really offended by that.”
When asked about Young Thug’s other conditions of his plea deal and his being allowed to still make music and do performances, Jeffery Sr. said, “Yeah, we’re going to get back to work. We’re YSL. YSL loaded. I’m YSL loaded. In order for us to get back to our normal life, we’re going to have to put in some more work. We’re going to have to put in a lot of work.”
Young Thug’s father also continued his ongoing beef with the Fulton County DA’s office, adding, “But the work that we need to do, foremost, for the city of Atlanta, Fulton County, we need to get rid of the poison that’s in our system — and that’s the District Attorney’s Office. So, vote [for] Courtney Kramer. I support Courtney Kramer to the fullest. I feel like she’s the best person for the job and it’s not because of what she said about us, it’s because she said that and she was in my company and never knew who I was.”
