Earlier in October, the decision to take the Diddy’s key to Miami was in its final stages. Weeks later, a decision has finally been made.
According to TMZ, the business mogul, who is currently jailed on sex trafficking and racketeering charges, has officially been stripped of the Key to Miami Beach, which he received nine years ago. The process was initially delayed due to Hurricane Milton, which hit the Sunshine State on October 9. However, the news site notes that Mayor Steven Meiner and the city commission voted unanimously on the decision at an in-person hearing on October 30.
This latest move comes months after Miami rescinded its recognition of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Day following the raid on Diddy’s South Beach mansion in March and the release of a 2016 surveillance video showing him assaulting ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura.
Miami joins New York, another state that has decided to distance itself from the rapper amid a mountain of wild allegations made against him. In June, Diddy returned New York’s Key to the City after Mayor Eric Adams requested it back earlier that month.

In a letter addressed to a communications representative for the musician, Mayor Adams expressed at the time that he “was deeply disturbed” by the assault footage. He added, “I strongly condemn these actions and stand in solidarity with all survivors of domestic and gender-based violence.” Adams emphasized that “our city has worked tirelessly to make sure survivors are heard and seen by our administration.”
Despite apologizing for the 2016 incident, which ultimately led to a lawsuit by Cassie that they settled back in November, Diddy has maintained his innocence.
He has since faced dozens of additional lawsuits and allegations, all of which his attorneys plan to contest in court.
“In court, the truth will prevail,” Diddy’s legal team stated. “Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone — adult or minor, man or woman.”
