The 40 Best Songs of 1976

When Champion, Four Tet and Skrillex join forces, they don’t wait for an invitation.

“Talk To Me,” their new collaborative single featuring Naisha, slips right into the bloodstream with a captivating, bass-heavy beat and entrancing vocals, setting off a heady mix of self-assured swagger and introspective groove that’s primed to invigorate dancefloors everywhere.

Melding the creative instincts of Champion, Four Tet and Skrillex with Naisha’s impressive vocal range, the track simultaneously feels both immediate and enduring. Champion brings his rhythmic mastery to the mix, crafting a slinky groove that brims with underground grit while Four Tet’s signature experimental touch adds an infectious bounce. All the while, the track’s powerful bassline hums and churns with unmistakable Skrillex heft.

Naisha’s vocals then float in, her ethereal falsetto pulling us in with a delicate yet direct “talk to me” hook that drips with allure. Her vocals shift seamlessly from angelic lilt to hip-hop-inflected grit, a compelling tension between sultriness and self-confidence.

“Talk To Me” marks another stroke of genius in the collaborative timeline of Four Tet and Skrillex. Their previous collaborations, including the atmospheric “glow” from Fred again..’s recent album, saw the pair testing new sonic boundaries, threading textured soundscapes with a distinctly uplifting flair. The impact of their collaborative history isn’t lost on “Talk To Me,” which had become a crowd favorite after plays during Four Tet’s Lollapalooza and Portola sets, among others.
