Music mogul Quincy Jones, who worked with everyone from Frank Sinatra to Michael Jackson to Will Smith, has died at the age of 91 in his Bel Air, California, home.
After 70 years in the music and film industry, he left a legacy of greatness, contributing to numerous historic projects and lending a hand to the careers of several individuals who went on to create legacies of their own.
Just like his music career, Quincy’s romantic life was quite busy.
He had been married three times before succumbing to the bachelor lifestyle in his later years.
1. Jeri Caldwell (Married 1957 – 1966)
His first wife, Jeri Caldwell, was his high school sweetheart whom he married in 1957, four years after welcoming their first child, Jolie, in 1953. But about a decade later, Jones had an affair with another woman by the name of Carol Reynolds, which led to the birth of his second child, Rachel Jones. He and Caldwell divorced in 1966.
2. Carol Reynolds (Fling 1963)
That same year, Jones met Swedish model, Ulla Andersson at a Frank Sinatra party, and the two hit it off and ended up having their daughter, Martina Jones. In 1968, they welcomed their son, Quincy Delight Jones III, which ended up being Quincy’s only son. The two called their relationship quits in 1974.
3. Ulla Andersson (Married 1967-1974)
4: Peggy Lipton (Married 1974-1990)
Not long after that, Quincy went on to marry actress and model, Peggy Lipton, in 1974. In Quincy Jones: In the Pocket, Lipton revealed that she first met Quincy when he was still married to Andersson. She said, “And I just was so drawn to him, you know, never knowing, like, that’s my husband, but feeling very, very drawn to him.”
They didn’t meet again until two years later when Quincy was divorced from Andersson, and the couple had two daughters together, Kidada Ann Jones and Parks and Recreation actress Rashida Jones. They divorced in 1990.
5. Nastassja Kinski (Dated 1992-1995)
While Quincy never made it down the aisle again he did continue to explore many different relationships. His next relationship was with German actress, Nastassja Kinski, and they were together for about three years before ending their romance. In the midst of their relationship, however, they welcomed their daughter, Kenya Kinski-Jones, who ended up being Quincy’s seventh and final child.
6. Lisette Weiner Deroaux (Met in 1995, Dated for Six Years)
In the years following, Quincy embarked on several other relationships. He dated his publicist, Lisette Weiner Deroaux, for six years and was even hanging out with Hugh Hefner’s second wife, Kimberley Conrad, while they were still married.
6. Kimberly Conrad (2025 Rumored Fling)
7. Heba Elawadi (Dated in 2006)
In 2006, the “Off the Wall” producer began to get some side glances when he got into a relationship with 19-year-old Egyptian designer Heba Elawadi. He was 73.
8. Ivanka Trump (Rumored Fling in 2006)
Jones also proclaimed to date Ivanka Trump, and the two apparently got acquainted after Trump asked to have dinner with him. “She’s a fine motherf-cker. She had the most beautiful legs I ever saw in my life. Wrong father, though,” he said.
9. Marpessa Dawn (Rumored Fling – Date of Relationship Not Specified)
In a 2018 GQ interview, Quincy opened up about his former wives – who all happened to be white and debunked the claims that he was only interested in “blondes” by revealing that he had dated Black Orpheus actress Marpessa Dawn.
When it comes to the backlash he said, “I don’t give a f-ck. Because they think that’s all you like, but that’s stupid, man. Here’s what you’ve got to understand: The interracial thing was part of a revolution, too, because back in the ’40s and stuff, they would say, ‘You can’t mess with a white man’s money.… Don’t mess with his women.’ We weren’t going to take that shit. Charlie Parker, everybody there, was married to a white wife.”
10. Hazel Scott (Rumored Fling – Date of Relationship Not Specified)
According to PopSugar, in the 2001 Autobiography of Quincy Jones, he was also romantically linked to Hazel Scott and Juliette Greco.
11. Juliette Greco Rumo (Rumored Fling – Date of Relationship Not Specified)
In the GQ interview, Jones also shared that he had 22 girlfriends at the age of 84 and that they all knew about each other. When the interviewer asked their age range, he said, “Well, my daughters gave me new numbers, because they kept saying, ‘Dad, you can’t go out with girls younger than us.’ I said, ‘Y’all are not young anymore.…’ So the new numbers are 28 to 42. They gave them to me.”
The interviewer further asked if Jones was open to dating anyone closer to his own age. He responded, “Hell no! You see me with an 84-year-old woman? Are you crazy,” before later adding, “For what, man? There’s nothing…there’s no upside. You gotta be kidding.”
Quincy is survived by all seven of his children. His rep Arnold Robinson released a statement about his death that said, “Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing. And although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him.
“He is truly one of a kind and we will miss him dearly; we take comfort and immense pride in knowing that the love and joy, that were the essence of his being, was shared with the world through all that he created. Through his music and his boundless love, Quincy Jones’ heart will beat for eternity.”
