Teddi Mellencamp filed for divorce from Edwin Arroyave on Friday after 13 years of marriage.
Before the 43-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum announced her and Edwin’s split with a statement to her fans and followers on Instagram, Teddi was in court, requesting not only full physical and legal custody of her and Edwin’s three kids but also asking for spousal support.
In court documents obtained by TMZ on November 4, Teddi cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for her and Edwin’s breakup and listed their separation date as October 20, which was oddly days after she and Edwin, 47, made a loved-up appearance at a charity event.
As she sought primary legal and physical custody of 12-year-old Slate, 10-year-old Cruz, and 4-year-old Dove, Teddi acknowledged that she’d like Edwin to have visitation with the kids.
As for spousal support, Teddi requested it for herself and asked the court to block Edwin’s ability to collect spousal support from her.
On Saturday, Teddi officially confirmed the end of her marriage to Edwin.
“After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” she wrote on Instagram on Saturday. “My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter.”
“Making a public statement is not something I wanted to do but in an effort to protect my family from undue speculation and rumors, I felt being open, honest and vulnerable was the best path forward,” Teddi added.
One day later, in an Instagram Story, Edwin shared a cryptic message with his online audience.
“You’re not always going to be motivated or inspired. That’s where rituals [and] habits come in. Having good habits is what will get you through your dark days. It’s when you’re under pressure that your true character is revealed,” read his post.
In the days that have followed Teddi’s divorce filing, she has been spotted out in Los Angeles twice, both times with her wedding ring still on.
On Saturday, as seen in photos shared by the Daily Mail, Teddi was seen in a beige hoodie with her ring on.

Then, on Sunday, in photos also shared by the Daily Mail, Teddi wore her wedding ring with an army green coat and tan hat.

Teddi and Edwin met in 2008 and tied the knot in 2011.
