An interesting rumor has surfaced regarding Spider-Man in Avengers: Secret Wars, and it would be shocking to see if it’s true. It puts Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in a rough and sad situation.

This is just a rumor, it hasn’t been confirmed, but if it ends up being true, I’m just going to throw up a SPOILER ALERT just in case!

The news comes from inside scooper @MyTimeToShineH, who shared a GIF of Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield hugging in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and it came with the following caption:

“They’ll be forced to face off against each other in Secret Wars.”

That would seriously be tragic if true! But, it would make for some very compelling storytelling. Damn… it will be interesting to see if this is something Marvel will actually attempt to do.

Joe and Anthony Russo are returning to Marvel to direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, which is a story that they are very passionate about and excited about telling.

During a previous interview, they said they believe the next two Avengers films will be on “an equal footing with Infinity War and Endgame.”

Joe said: “Why would we come back if we didn’t feel like we had a story that had that possibility of being on an equal footing with Infinity War and Endgame unless there’s a kernel there for an idea that’s really explosive?”

As you know, Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the MCU as the villain Doctor Doom, which is going to put a whole new crazy spin on things. If Marvel is doing that, anything is possible with the future of this franchise.

The script for Avengers: Doomsday is being developed by Stephen McFeely, who previously co-wrote all of the Russo Brothers’ MCU projects.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released in May 2026 with Avengers: Secret Wars set to follow in May 2027.
