deadmau5 has always been known for his tech-savvy innovation, but his latest project might be his most unconventional yet. The influential electronic music producer has teased Meowingtons Simulator, a ragdoll-style dancing game starring his beloved cat of the same name.
Taking to social media, deadmau5 hyped up the forthcoming release with an in-game sneak peek. The gameplay preview showcases Meowingtons roaming the digital dancefloor of Oberhasli Nightclub, complete with the ability to jump on DJ decks and disrupt the party.
Players can control Meowingtons’ head and tail independently, creating outrageous dance routines as the club lights pulse to the music. The game is all about embracing absurdity, so there’s no wrong way to make your cat groove. Additionally, a multiplayer mode will allow you to host up to seven friends for a virtual dance-off, complete with voice and text chat.
deadmau5, who developed the game with Oberhasli Studios, has poured his love for tech and his playful sense of humor into the project. It also functions as a de facto homage to Meowingtons, who tragically died in August 2023.
“We’ve worked particularly hard to include the most random and absurd achievements,” he said.
