Last Friday, multiple outlets started reporting about the rumored cancellation of Euphoria Season 3. This was reportedly due to lead cast members Zendaya and Jacob Elordi’s filming commitments to other major movie projects in 2025. However, HBO quickly clarified the situation with a new statement regarding the hit teen drama’s current status.

What did HBO’s Euphoria Season 3 update say?

An HBO representative has officially denied recent reports about Euphoria Season 3’s supposed cancelation. The representative confirmed that the show still has its target production start date, which was originally announced back in July.

“Euphoria is going in to production in 2025. Nothing has changed,” HBO said in a statement (via The Independent).

Season 3 was initially meant to start filming this year since the network was previously targeting a 2025 return date for the show. Since the next installment was delayed due to last year’s strikes, it has endured multiple setbacks behind the scenes. A previous report also suggested that the delay might be due to the creative team and the network’s clashing visions for Season 3. Due to its delay, HBO gave the Euphoria cast permission to “pursue other opportunities” while creator Sam Levinson continues to develop the Season 3 script.

Based on an Israeli series of the same name, Euphoria is created and written by Levinson, who is also executive producing with Zendaya and Drake. It also stars Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Storm Reid, Algee Smith, Austin Abrams, Colman Domingo, and more. The series follows a group of high school students as they struggle to move through the worlds of drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love, and friendship. Further details about Season 3’s plot are still under wraps, but it’s expected to include a big time jump.
