The organizers of the traveling Breakaway Music Festival have announced that all of their events in 2025 will accept cryptocurrency for ticket purchases, bottle service and more.

For crypto-curious ravers, it means one more way to secure their spot at what’s become North America’s most ambitious touring EDM festival. The move not only modernizes Breakaway’s ticketing process, but also mirrors the festival’s ethos of progress and inclusivity to foster a new kind of freedom on and off the dancefloor.

“We’re excited to expand our offerings and embrace the future of payments by accepting cryptocurrency at all of our 2025 festival dates,” Breakaway co-founder and CEO Adam Lynn said in a press release. “As the music industry continues to evolve, we’re committed to adapting to the needs of our fans and staying ahead of the curve.”

“By accepting cryptocurrency, we’re providing our fans with more flexibility and convenience, while also supporting the growth of the cryptocurrency community in the markets we’re serving next year and beyond.”

The timing is no coincidence. Breakaway CRO William Van Orsdel says the shift is the upshot of a major trend of customers and vendors requesting the use of crypto at music festivals.

“We believe in the underlying technology and are excited to be industry trailblazers for what we feel will ultimately become standard practice across the entertainment landscape,” Van Orsdel added.

It’s also worth noting that Breakaway’s groundbreaking move arrives amid a feverishly bullish US crypto market. The price of Bitcoin over the weekend rose above $80,000 for the first time ever, and it now sits north of $89,000 at the time of this writing. Major altcoins like Ethereum, Solana, Ripple and Sui have followed suit with unprecedented gains.

Breakaway’s 2025 season is scheduled to kick off April 4-5 in Dallas. The festival will then head to Phoenix, Tampa, Atlanta, Columbus, Minneapolis, Grand Rapids, Worcester, Philadelphia, Charlotte and Huntsville before concluding in the Bay Area October 17-18.
