While many members of Chiefs Kingdom will be tuning in to Hallmark’s Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, Donna Kelce isn’t sure if Taylor Swift will be one of them.
“Is Taylor gonna watch our love story?” Jenna Bush Hager, who also cameos, asked Kelce, 72, on the Thursday, November 14, episode of Today. Kelce replied, “I don’t know. That’s a good question.” Bush Hager, 42, encouraged Mama Kelce to “ask her to.”
The pair unveiled the movie’s official trailer on Thursday’s episode of Today, revealing first looks at their respective characters. “We should just say, both of our parts are brief,” Bush Hager, who plays a sports journalist, joked. Kelce, for her part, will portray “a manager of a barbeque restaurant.”
Holiday Touchdown follows Hunter King as Alana, who sparks a romantic connection with Kansas City Chiefs director of engagement, Derrick (Tyler Hynes), while competing for the team’s “Fan of the Year” award with her family.
Not only does Alana’s family notice the pair’s connection, but so does Kelce. “Trust me on this one,” her character seemingly tells Alana in the preview, which also featured appearances from head coach Andy Reid, Chiefs guard Trey Smith and more of the team’s players.
The movie is heavily rumored to be inspired by Swift’s romance with Donna’s son, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The Grammy winner, 34, has become a prominent member of Chiefs Kingdom since she and the athlete, 35, began dating last year. Swift has attended several of his NFL games — often sitting with Donna and the rest of the Kelce family — since September 2023.
However, Donna doesn’t think Swift will join the Kelces for their Thanksgiving celebrations later this month. “She’s kind of busy right now,” she said on the second hour of Today. “She still has her tour to do.”
Swift will take a nearly two-week break after playing her final Eras Tour show in Toronto on Saturday, November 23, meaning she will be free to cheer on Travis at the Chiefs’ Friday, November, 29, game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Swift will return to Canada for her final three concerts in Vancouver on Friday, December 6.
One person who will likely watch Donna’s Holiday Touchdown acting debut is Travis, who revealed earlier this year that he’s a fan of Hallmark movies. “I dabble now, yeah,” he shared during an April episode of his and Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast.
Donna is also set to star in another Hallmark holiday rom-com, Christmas on Call, which takes place in Philadelphia and will feature a new song by Jason and his former Eagles teammates’ musical group, The Philly Specials.
Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story premieres on Hallmark Channel Saturday, November 30, at 8 p.m. ET.
