President-elect Donald Trump has selected Karoline Leavitt, his campaign spokeswoman, as the next White House press secretary.She is the youngest person to hold this position at just 27 years old.

Karoline Leavitt served as the national press secretary during her campaign and previously held the position of assistant press secretary in Trump’s first administration. In a statement, Trump praised her: “Karoline Leavitt did a phenomenal job as the National Press Secretary on my historic campaign, and I am pleased to announce that she will serve as White House Press Secretary.” He described Leavitt as “smart, tough, and proven to be highly effective” in communication.

“I have the utmost confidence she will excel at the podium and help deliver our message to the American people as we Make America Great Again,” he continued. According to the New York Post, she also ran for Congress in 2022 in New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District, and served as a spokeswoman for Rep. Elise Stefanik.

As the White House press secretary, Leavitt will carry on the legacy of previous officeholders, including Sean Spicer, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Stephanie Grisham, and Kayleigh McEnany, all of whom served during Trump’s first term. Alongside Leavitt’s appointment, Trump also announced other key positions within his returning administration. Steven Cheung will serve as the director of communications, and Sergio Gor will head the Presidential Personnel Office.
