As Sean “Diddy” Combs sits behind bars at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), prosecutors in his federal racketeering and sex trafficking case accuse him of obstruction and trying to contact witnesses in jail.

According to The New York Times, new court documents filed on Friday (November 15), reveal that the government believes the disgraced music mogul has allegedly been attempting to obstruct federal prosecutors by instructing associates to make three-way calls and obtain help from other inmates.
Prosecutors alleged that Diddy has been trying to evade government monitoring by arranging conference calls in jail and paying other inmates to use their phone privileges. The new allegation from prosecutors arrives a week before another hearing is set to take place, where Diddy will learn the fate of his latest attempt at bail.

Since his September 16 arrest, the Bad Boy Records founder has been incarcerated inside a special housing unit at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Dentition Center. The unit he’s housed in is usually assigned to high-profile inmates. In the government’s new court filing, prosecutors accuse Diddy of “relentless efforts” to contact potential witnesses via three-way calls with associates whom prosecutors believe are part of his “criminal enterprise.”
Prosecutors wrote in their filing, “The defendant has demonstrated an uncanny ability to get others to do his bidding — employees, family members, and M.D.C. inmates alike.” Diddy is also accused of making unauthorized calls by using the telephone accounts of at least eight other inmates at MDC. They alleged that he instructs his associates to pay these other inmates — whose names were redacted in the filing.

Allegedly, Diddy has associates adding funds to other inmates’ commissary accounts in order to gain their cooperation. However, it’s reported that the calls generated by other inmates’ accounts were not identified as calls directed at witnesses in Diddy’s federal case.
Additionally, prosecutors still claim that there is evidence of Diddy’s disregard for the jail’s regulations, which they claim is an obstruction in their case. Diddy has been denied bail three times since his September 16 arrest and with the new allegations of him using his resources and communications to contact witnesses behind jail bars, it appears his access to the outside world will likely be further contested.
