James Van Der Beek’s Final Thriller Movie The Gates Gets Suspense-Filled Trailer

Sony Pictures has landed a new film project that is coming from Godzilla Minus One director Takashi Yamazaki titled Grandgear. He is set to write and direct the film with J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot producing.

The film will mark Yamazaki’s first English-language movie, but unfortunately, we don’t have any plot details to share with you.

As you might imagine, after the success of Godzilla Minus One, everyone in Hollywood wants to get into business with Yamazaki, and once word was out that he had his first English language movie was on the market, the bids from the studios came in fast.

Sony ended up winning and there were a number of factors came into play, which included the studio commitment to a theatrical release as well as Sony’s close Japanese ties through its parent company.

I love that Yamazaki is developing an original film project like this, and I’m excited to see what it ends up being.

Yamazaki is also returning to Toho to write and direct another Godzilla movie, which got all of the Godzilla fans super excited.
