The Wuthering Heights cast is expanding, with Emerald Fennell‘s upcoming adaptation adding three more actors in major roles to the film.

Who is joining the Wuthering Heights cast?

According to a recent report from Deadline, Hong Chau (The Whale), Alison Oliver (Saltburn), and Shazad Latif (Magpie) have all joined onto the project in three major roles. Their exact roles in the film are unknown, but Deadline’s report notes they have landed “the three remaining major roles,” so they are likely to be big-time players in the film.

Chau is best known for her work in the films Downsizing, The Menu, and The Whale, the latter of which earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Oliver made her film debut in Fennell’s 2023 psychological comedy thriller Saltburn, as Venetia Catton, Felix’s (played by Jacob Elordi) sister. Latif is best known for his roles in the hit BBC TV series Spooks, Star Trek: Discovery, Penny Dreadful, and most recently, his role in the 2024 neo-noir thriller Magpie.

The Wuthering Heights adaptation is set to be headlined by Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. Other casting information is unknown at this time, but Deadline notes that the film is in pre-production, with the current plan being to begin filming sometime in 2025. Along with directing, Fennell is also writing and producing the film, which will be her latest project following 2023’s Saltburn and 2020’s Promising Young Woman.

The project, which is based on the legendary 1847 novel by English novelist and poet Emily Brontë, will see Robbie and Elordi play Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, respectively. Earnshaw and Heathcliff serve as the two main characters of the novel, which follows two families — the Earnshaws and the Lintons — and their relationships over the course of several years.

Since its release in the mid-1800s, Wuthering Heights has been widely considered one of the greatest novels ever written. The book has had countless adaptations, including film, TV, and stage versions of the novel.
