A number of stars had promised to leave the country if Donald Trump won the election. Well, he did, and it appears a handful of celebrities are actually sticking to their word.
According to The Wrap, Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, are reportedly planning to pack their belongings and move to the UK following Donald Trump’s election win earlier this month. A source close to the couple indicated that they intend to move abroad and not look back, as they are reportedly putting their Montecito, California, mansion on the market.
While the former talk show host remains active in her career, performing comedy shows here and there, the source claims the couple, who wed in 2008, will likely “never” return to the U.S. on a permanent basis. The couple has not yet commented to confirm, deny, or clarify these reports.
However, another set of sources told TMZ that the duo wants to “get the hell out” of the country immediately following the President-elect’s victory over Kamala Harris, which left them feeling “very disillusioned.”

DeGeneres has been a strong supporter of Kamala Harris, having endorsed her back in August. She mentioned on her Instagram at the time, “There’s nothing more powerful than a woman whose time has come!! I can’t wait for @KamalaHarris to be our next president,” she captioned her post.
It has been reported that the couple will be residing in the Cotswolds in South West England, which is nearly two hours from London.
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi now join the growing list of stars who have promised to pack their bags and leave the USA if Donald Trump becomes the leader.
Actress Eva Longoria moved to Spain with her family and has expressed that it’s a decision she doesn’t regret. In an interview earlier this month, she said, “The shocking part is not that he won,” before explaining, “It’s that a convicted criminal who spews so much hate could hold the highest office.” The 49-year-old went on to express her privilege in being able to move her family out of what she described as a “dystopian country.”
“I get to escape and go somewhere,” she continued. However, she also shared her anxiety and nervousness for “most Americans [who] aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.”
