After Kendrick Lamar took another victory lap in his beef with Drake, Lil Wayne entered the chat to check his Super Bowl bars. In the opening song of his new album, Lamar calls out the backlash following the announcement of the 2025 Super Bowl halftime performer. The Young Money mogul responded, warning everyone to leave him out of this potential battle.

On Nov. 22, Kendrick Lamar released his sixth studio album, GNX. The surprise album’s first song, “wacced out murals,” explicitly addressed Lil Wayne and the Super Bowl controversy.

“Used to bump Tha Carter 3, I held my Rollie chain proud… Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down,” the lyrics read.

As BOSSIP reported, Lamar was announced as the Apple Music Halftime performer for the 2025 Super Bowl. However, shortly after the announcement, Lil Wayne and his supporters expressed disdain. Many felt Lil Wayne should have been the choice because the big game will take place in New Orleans.

“That hurt. It hurt a lot… I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown,” he stated on Instagram Live. “I thought there was nothing better than that spot and that stage in my city, so it hurt.”

Lamar remained quiet after the announcement despite Lil Wayne’s public outcry. The rapper leaves it all in his music as the lyrics have resurfaced the dramatic ordeal. The song doesn’t stop at Lil Wayne, but Lamar addresses his peers as well.

“Got the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me, all these n***** agitated I’m just glad it’s on their faces,” he rapped.

The “How to Love” rapper never expressed specific disappointment about Lamar being chosen, more so that he was not selected to perform. Still, Lamar seemingly took offense, and Lil Wayne responded to Lamar via X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Man wtf I do?! I just be chillin & dey still kome 4 my head. Let’s not take kindness for weakness. Let this giant sleep. I beg u all. No one really wants destruction, not even me but I shall destroy if disturbed. On me. Love,” he wrote, seemingly issuing a warning.

Social Media Reacts To Lil Wayne’s “Warning”

Lil Wayne’s issue with not being the Super Bowl LIX performer has polarized social media. Many took his side, saying that the NFL should pick a performer that honors the city the game is being played in. However, others recognize Lamar’s successful year and feel he is the perfect selection for the upcoming game.

When Lamar spoke out on his new album and Lil Wayne responded, the divide seemed to close as fans and music listeners felt Wayne was causing more drama.

“Bye why you acting like you didn’t make a whole vid crying about the Super Bowl + Kendrick didn’t even diss you,” @1DirectionHQ_ wrote on X.

@wowthatshiphop pointed out that Lil Wayne started the drama by not taking the disappointment graciously, “You said the superbowl was taken from you when it wasn’t promised in the first place and never congratulated the artist who looked up to you and worked hard himself to get it, but now it’s “wtf I do?” Lol.”

Other users express disappointment in Lil Wayne for his actions and warn him that Kendrick is not dissing him.

“Idk why Lil Wayne acting like he got dissed or sum. Kendrick is clearly disappointed that his accomplishment was met with crying & complaining instead of a congratulations from someone he’s a huge fan of. I hope Wayne ain’t crazy enough to turn this into something it ain’t,” @Heymoshimoshii wrote.

@SHREKRAP said simply, “LIL WAYNE SHOULD’VE JUST CONGRATULATED KENDRICK.”
