Bishop Jakes shook his parishioners on Sunday (Nov. 24) when he appeared to suffer a medical incident during his church service. Hours after the incident, his daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, took to social media with her husband, Touré Roberts, to update her father’s followers.

Sarah and her husband began their video message by acknowledging that the day was “interesting” and “tough.” She also thanked supporters for their prayers and concerns for Bishop Jakes. The post was shared on Touré’s Instagram page.
“We felt those prayers. Obviously, today could’ve been a tragic day, but it wasn’t, by the mercy of God, by the grace of God ,” Touré said. “Bishop is doing well, he’s recovering well. He’s under medical care. He’s strong.”
Mr. Roberts added that they’re trying to get Bishop Jakes to “sit down” but admitted that the church leader is “strong.” As far as how supporters can help, Touré suggested folks keep the prayers coming! Sarah Jakes Roberts Jakes added that her father is already recovering. She said the medical incident is a reminder to “love on the people you hold near and dear,” especially with the holiday season approaching.
Meanwhile, the caption of the IG post said, “He’s going well. Thank you immensely for your prayers. They are working.”

As previously reported, viral footage shows T.D. Jakes convulsing on stage for a brief moment while holding the mic. The incident occurred during service at his Dallas, Texas, sanctuary. After clips from the shocking livestream moment began circulating on social media, the church spoke out. In their statement, The Potter’s House said Bishop Jakes was “stable and under the care of medical professionals.”
It’s unclear what caused T.D. Jakes to shake on stage and what additional symptoms he’s being treated for. It’s also unclear whether he will be returning to the pulpit for his popular sermons this week. As of Monday morning, Bishop Jakes has yet to speak out directly to his supporters, on and off camera.
