Though the crew’s plan works for a brief period, Nalo soon begins to cause trouble for them. He strikes lightning into the ocean, stripping Maui’s power, who is still trying to raise the island from the water. Affected by Nalo’s moves, he falls into the water and their plans go all awry.
Nevertheless, Moana takes the risk and is determined to restore the island. She believes that if she dives into the water and touches the island’s shore, it will break Nalo’s curse and the island will be restored. Though Moana succeeds in her plans, tragedy strikes her too.
An observant Nalo shoots the lightning strikes on Moana, leading to her ultimate demise. However, he is soon defeated when the lost island awakens.
