Bronwyn Newport and her husband, Todd Bradley, reportedly lived separately — and in different states — for years during their eight-year marriage.
As the 39-year-old Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star continues to face questions about possible marital strife with Todd, 65, on the show, and as she reacted to the potential return of controversial cast member Monica Garcia, 39, details of a March 2018 lawsuit against Bronwyn and Todd have been revealed.
In court documents obtained by The U.S. Sun on December 3, it was stated that the couple lived separately between 2016 and 2018.
In the lawsuit in question, a Utah woman claimed to have been attacked by one of Bronwyn and Todd’s Boxer dogs in November 2016. The lawsuit stated that Todd was living in San Francisco, California, and Bronwyn was residing in Utah with her dog keeper at the time of the filing.
“Newport-Bradley told investigating animal control officer Vernon that the dog belonged to her and that [the dog keeper] worked for her, took care of the dog, and transported the dog back and forth between Park City and San Francisco, where Defendant Richard Todd Bradley was residing,” the woman alleged in the lawsuit. “While in Utah, the dog lived with [the dog keeper] and Newport-Bradley at [address withheld] in Park City, Utah. As the dog’s owner… at the time of the subject incident, Newport-Bradley is strictly liable for Davidson’s injuries committed by the dog.”
According to the report, Todd bought the Park City home in 2015 as a “second home,” and the dog was “regularly transported” to him in California.
The plaintiff claimed the dog keeper was walking the Boxer on a leash and that she “extended her hand toward the dog to allow the dog to sniff her hand” before it “bit [Plaintiff’s] hand causing severe injuries necessitating surgery.”
The woman said she suffered financial damages, lost wages, and loss of earnings, as well as non-financial damages “resulting from physical and emotional pain and suffering, and loss of the enjoyment of life.”
She wanted Bronwyn and Todd to be held responsible since they knew the dog was “vicious,” and in September 2018, her lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice after she “fully compromised and settled” the lawsuit with the couple.
As for Bronwyn’s thoughts on Monica’s potential return to RHOSLC, where she was exposed for her involvement with Instagram’s Reality Von Tease, which frequently targeted her co-stars, Bronwyn wasn’t against it.
“I think that’s hard to say because I don’t know the full weight of that betrayal for them,” she told Us Weekly at an event last month. “I do know that there’s always three sides to every story. So I’ve heard Monica’s, I’ve heard the ladies; I have a feeling the truth is somewhere in the middle.”
Although Bronwyn acknowledged that Monica made the cast feel “unsafe,” she suggested that the ladies had been “messy” in Monica or Reality Von Tease’s DMs.
“I’m definitely talking out of pocket because I was not there. I do not know, but I also think you do your best work when you feel a little uncomfortable,” she explained. “So I don’t know that I wanna hang with her every day, but I’d love for her to make an appearance. Maybe I’m in a real bad place with the ladies if I’m asking for Monica to make an appearance, but, you know, we’ll see.”
