Joey Lawrence and his estranged wife, Samantha Cope, are leaving fans scratching their heads after a surprising display of affection despite filing for divorce. 

Back in August, the couple’s relationship appeared to be at a breaking point due to alleged infidelity on Lawrence’s part with a co-star.

Are Lawrence and Cope getting back together? The 48-year-old shared a pair of heartfelt photos on Instagram, seemingly hinting at a reconciliation with his estranged wife. 

The sweet snapshots, taken at what looked like an event, left fans scratching their heads as they tried to make sense of the couple’s complicated situation.

Many followers expressed their confusion in the comments. One fan wrote, “OK someone explain this pleaseas long as Joey is happy I’m happy butyea I’m confused.” Another even outrightly stated, “I’m confused.”

The father-of-three shared the surprising Instagram post, which seemed to suggest he and Cope are reconciling. The first image showed Lawrence with his hand around Cope’s waist, while the second captured the couple sharing a kiss, accompanied by the words, “My forever after.”

Following his separation from Cope, Lawrence’s bond with Chandie Yawn-Nelson and their two daughters, Charleston and Liberty, reportedly strengthened.

“Once they split, things got exponentially better between him and his ex-wife and their girls,” a source shared. They also added that Lawrence was focused on his faith and trying to handle his marital struggles with grace, despite his disappointment.

While there were speculations about Lawrence’s relationship with co-star Melina Alves, a source clarified that their connection was strictly professional. The insider noted that the star and Alves “had a working relationship and were partners on a couple of things.”

Before their seemly reconciliatory photo, Cope officially filed for divorce from Lawrence after two years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. 

The actress submitted her paperwork on August 13, specifying June 7, 2024, as the official date of their separation. In her filing, Cope also requested that neither party receive spousal support and sought full physical custody of their daughter, Dylan.

Cope proposed that Lawrence be granted limited visitation with their child, stating, “Once Dylan is 3 or older, Joey will have the option to take her for 2 nights in her home location if he is not working and can facilitate her visiting.”

Amid swirling rumors of an affair with her co-star, Alves decided to clear the air once and for all. The actress took to social media to address the allegations, revealing their connection was platonic.

The Blast reported that in her Instagram post, Alves praised Lawrence for his “kindness, warmth, and genuine character,” explaining that while their relationship grew stronger on set, it never crossed into romantic territory. 

She stressed that their connection remained platonic, and what developed was a “strong, supportive friendship that has been a source of strength for both of us.”

ICYMI, the two starred together in the holiday film “Socked In For Christmas,” where Alves claimed they developed a meaningful bond rooted in shared personal experiences.

An example is his latest love story with Cope, a relationship that also began on a movie set. The lovebirds’ romance blossomed during the filming of the 2020 Lifetime thriller “My Husband’s Secret Brother,” directed by Lawrence’s brother, Andrew.
