Lala Kent isn’t on good terms with most of her Vanderpump Rules costars — but she has formed a surprising bond with Tom Schwartz.
During the Wednesday, December 4, episode of the “Turning the Tables” podcast, Kent, 34, said she is “really close” with Schwartz, 42, after being asked about his and Tom Sandoval’s Schwartz & Sandy’s restaurant.
“So he had let me know that if we don’t close by the end of the month, we will for sure be closing by the end of the year,” she recalled. “And it’s just really sad to me because I think it really had a lot of potential.”
Kent blamed the aftermath of Sandoval’s affair with Rachel “Raquel” Leviss for the establishment closing, adding, “But that entire scandal, it changed people’s lives. So it’s sad that he had to deal with the repercussions of someone else’s actions.”
The update on Kent and Schwartz’s relationship came as a surprise considering the numerous feuds among the cast. Kent, specifically, has been outspoken about being at odds with costars including Sandoval, Ariana Madix, Katie Maloney and former OG cast members Brittany Cartwright and Kristen Doute.
Earlier this year, Kent revealed that she previously fought with Cartwright, 34, over a babysitter.
“Do not text my mother the day that I find out that we’re having a baby girl and say, ‘Did you really hire our nanny without our permission?’” Kent said at the May reunion of Vanderpump Rules, referencing Cartwright’s ex Jax Taylor. “First of all, you’re in Kentucky with [your son] Cruz, and she said, ‘I have Jax yelling at me.’ And I said, ‘Well, then you need to have Jax call me so I can eat him alive instead.’”
Kent was also annoyed at the use of nanny vs. babysitter.
“People like to get real Hollywood quickly and call babysitters nannies. Babysitter and nanny? Very different things,” she added. “Had it not been Brittany, my mom would have slapped this ho the next time she saw her. My 63-year-old f—ing mom is being questioned by Kentucky muffin. Are you joking?”
The pair have since reconciled but Kent is still not on good terms with Maloney, 38, and Madix, 39, after not seeing eye to eye while filming season 11 of Vanderpump Rules. According to Kent, her frustration with the duo was specifically about them not being more honest while cameras were rolling last summer.
“I’m going to be real about Ariana. She coasts through every single f—-ing season. And we are asking you to have one conversation with Tom Sandoval — the guy you shoved down our throats for so many years,” Kent said on an episode of the Vanderpump Rules After Show in May. “That guy, who you still live with. We are asking you to have one conversation and you can’t do that?”
More recently, Kent confirmed her friendship with Maloney had “run its course.”

“They all have a really special place in my heart. I had a really fun time with Ariana when I first was on the show. Katie, my friendship with her [during] season 10, I thought that that friendship was really on point,” she noted on her podcast in August. “When I think back, I’m like, ‘Wow, even though it was a hard time in my life, that friendship really got me through a tough time in my life.’”
Kent continued: “Katie and I were very close. I don’t think now we have anything in common and that’s OK. I don’t even know what we would talk about 1733417113. We’re just in such different places and I think that friendship was meant to be the way it was for the time being. I think that that’s totally OK. I have nothing but fond memories of that friendship. I have nothing but fond memories of the friendship I had with Ariana and Doute. But people change and move on.”
The distance between the costars appeared to play a factor in Bravo’s decision for Vanderpump Rules to have a cast overhaul. Production is starting next year with Lisa Vanderpump and an entirely new group of servers from SUR.
