Taylor Ann Green is back for another season of Southern Charm — but that doesn’t mean she’ll be spending a lot of one-on-one time with ex-boyfriend Shep Rose.
“My boundaries definitely have changed since last season,” Taylor, 30, exclusively told Us Weekly while promoting season 10 of the Bravo series, which premieres on Thursday, December 5. “I was kind of all over the place just with my emotions and thinking that Shep and I were going to get back together, which is bizarre.”
Going into this season, Taylor said she had a “whole different mindset.” The reality star explained that through therapy she feels more “balanced and grounded” and has kept a healthy distance from Shep, 44.
Those boundaries have extended to Taylor’s boyfriend, Gaston Rojas, whom fans will see here and there this season. Gaston, however, won’t be crossing paths with Shep, whom Taylor split from in summer 2022 after two years of dating.
“There’s no need to have a relationship with my ex-boyfriend. It’s just disrespectful to myself and it’s also disrespectful to my current relationship,” Taylor told Us. “There’s really no reason for Shep and Gaston to have any kind of interactions or relationship. I don’t really find it to be anything beneficial.”
Taylor explained that if she sees Shep out in Charleston they share a hug, and she asks how he’s doing. “But there’s no reason for us to have any kind of relationship outside of that,” she said.
When it comes to Gaston — who is friends with several Southern Hospitality stars — talking with Shep on Southern Charm, Taylor said that won’t happen.
“No interactions this season. The only interaction they’ve ever had was at BravoCon,” Taylor confirmed, referring to Bravo’s multi-day convention last November.
Us confirmed in July 2022 that Taylor and Shep called it quits after going public with their relationship in 2020. During season 9 of the Bravo show, Shep and Taylor had many highs and lows while navigating their post-breakup dynamic. Their relationship grew worse when Shep’s longtime pal Austen Kroll admitted he kissed Taylor after denying the hookup for months.
While Shep apologized to Taylor and Austen, 37, during the season 9 reunion for his negative response to their kiss, Taylor cut ties with her ex in fall 2023. She told Us last month that she no longer has Shep blocked on her phone, but she doesn’t have his number.

“I unblocked my side. There’s no reason for me to have your number, so I’ll unblock you, but please don’t contact me,” she said of her approach to being friendly with Shep. “If you contact me, continue to contact me, I will block you again.”
Taylor noted that Shep has been respectful of her wishes “for the most part,” but fans will see a few instances where that wasn’t the case on the upcoming season.
Viewers will also get to see Shep’s rebound romance on Southern Charm during a group trip. (During the season 10 trailer, Shep says he’s found “love” with the former Miss Bahamas, but his friends aren’t convinced.)
Taylor, for her part, has chosen to stay as far away from Shep’s relationship drama as possible. “I feel very far removed from that. It’s something that I just kind of look at and go, ‘I’m glad that’s not me.’ And I mean that respectfully,” she confessed to Us. “But I’m in such a happy place where I go, ‘Everything does happen for a reason.’ I’m very happy with the person that I’m with. And so seeing that I’m just going, ‘I’m just glad it’s not me.’”
Taylor, who exclusively told Us in October 2023 that she was dating Gaston, is looking toward the future with her boyfriend — which could mean moving in together after a proposal.
“I said I’ve got to have a ring on my finger before that happens,” she teased of sharing a residence with Gaston. “So we’re definitely taking the next step forward, and we’ve been talking about that extensively, so things are really great.”
She noted that since they’re in a good place, bringing the Bravo cameras into their lives is something she was hesitant about. “I do want to protect this relationship. He is very special to me, and so that is a safe space for me,” Taylor shared, noting that she doesn’t plan to pull Gaston into the show full time.
Gaston, however, will be brought up by newbie Salley Carson, who is his ex. “I had not met her formally. I’d met her just kind of briefly through the crowd,” Taylor told Us of the newcomer pushing her buttons. “Having someone come in who I don’t really know and is trying to ruffle the feathers of everyone was a bit frustrating. But that’s probably the only person that really did that.”
Taylor revealed that Salley’s meddling won’t cause any major damage for her and Gaston. “That was not an issue between Gaston and I. It was just kind of like that annoying gnat where you’re just like, ‘Get out of here. Stop. Just stop,’” she said with a laugh.
Taylor added that she feels like Gaston is The One, especially after his reality TV debut. “He knows more about rings than I do, and he loves children,” she gushed. “He is so ready to have a family and just have his person and do life with his person, and I’m also ready to do that.”
Season 10 of Southern Charm premieres on Bravo Thursday, December 5, at 9 p.m. ET.
