Brandi Glanville shared a positive update amid her health crisis on Friday, revealing that she got her smile back after losing five teeth amid her struggles with stress-induced angioedema.
After visiting dentist Dr. Anjali Rajpal of Beverly Hills Dental Arts, the 52-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum took to her Instagram page, where she showed off her teeth after suspecting a facial parasite had caused her facial disfigurement.
“When your face swells up and goes down and swells up and goes down, your teeth move, and I had a bridge that was very, very old, and unbeknownst to me, there was an infected tooth underneath that,” Brandi explained to The U.S. Sun on December 10. “When we pulled that one, we realized we had to pull two more. So now I’m missing five teeth.”
“I can eat again, I’m not chewing with the front of my teeth, and I can smile again, but it’s a work in progress, and I’m just actually happy for the first time in about two years,” she continued.
Meanwhile, with her Instagram photo, Brandi thanks her dentist.
“Thank you to [Beverly Hills Dental Arts] for helping to bring back my smile,” she wrote.
Following the sharing of the pic, Brandi was met with support from her fans and followers, one of whom said, “Wow, what a change from a few days ago! You look great!”
“It comes and goes it’s sooo insane I will have an hour a day sometimes of looking somewhat normal [and] then whatever it is starts jumping around my face [and] turning colors I have videos – it’s CRAZY,” Brandi replied.
Then, on her Instagram Story, Brandi thanked her online audience for the love they’ve shown her amid her ongoing struggles.
“Thank you for all the love and outreach. I am trying to get back to everyone, I am so pleasantly overwhelmed. My heart is healing,” she declared.
Brandi also gave a nod to The Real Housewives of Orange County star and Botched doctor, Dr. Terry Dubrow, 66, who commented on her condition publicly.
“I have zero drama with [Dr. Terry Dubrow],” she confirmed. “I appreciate all the help I can get. We have been in touch and plan to talk. Thank you for all the love. All fillers that were in my face have been dissolved. I have seen all the best doctors at Cedar Sinai, [and] all the doctors they referred me to.”
While out in Los Angeles earlier this week, Dr. Terry spoke to TMZ, sharing that he did not believe Brandi was dealing with a parasite, but rather something that had gotten into her bloodstream, via an injection.
“What I’m concerned about with Brandi is that she has an infectious process or a foreign body reaction to something she’s had injected,” he explained. “It’s not going to be a parasite. It’s not going to be from something she ate. It’s gonna be from something that got into her bloodstream and seeded, maybe, some foreign body.
According to Dr. Terry, Brandi could be suffering from either a mycobacterium or a fungus.
“They can be very difficult to treat and can take six to 12 months of antibiotics to treat,” he shared. “She probably needs surgical intervention to get a piece of tissue and figure out what’s going on.”
As Dr. Terry went on to offer his assistance to Brandi, he described her condition as a “ticking time bomb.”
“Every minute that that microorganism is allowed to stay in her skin and do potential damage, she could suffer worse for it. It could be more difficult to treat, and she could form more scars and more nodules,” he warned.
